Uncovered Part 3
Alpha!Bakugo x Omega!Reader
A/N: surprise! Have another part today
Summary: Alpha!Bakugo finds out that you’ve secretly been an Omega all this time
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/7a8d27233a7cb4c7bfa6f52448bd836b/9bbfdd55503497ca-d0/s500x750/7c6d52fc42638336c2285083d7d751ac412c899d.jpg)
Part 1 Part 2
Bakugo stood with his fist poised, ready to knock on the front door to your apartment— that was until he dropped his hand to the side for the umpteenth time that night.
”Fuck— this is so fucking stupid,” he growled, yearning to just punch a goddamn hole in the wall and just leave already.
It was late anyway, you were probably asleep by now. He could just come back tomorrow morning.
He took a step back and turned… that’s what he’ll do, he’ll come back tomorrow morning before you’re meant to report to the agency for work—
He stopped.
“FUCK—“ Bakugo slammed his fist hard against your front door three times.
After a few beats he was greeted with the door being swung open and you standing exasperated on the other side.
Almost immediately you rolled your eyes, shaking your head, “No. Go home—“ you went to shut the door but Bakugo shoved his foot in the door before you could.
”We need to talk,” He muttered gruffly, peering down at you with hard eyes.
Your nostrils flared as you stared back up at him with an indignant look, “I have nothing to say to you—“
”Have you been crying?” The words flew past his lips as he took in your appearance. You were dressed in pajamas, no doubt already in bed for the night when he came, and your eyes were swollen and watery as if you had just finished sobbing your eyes out.
You huffed, “Go. Home.”
The two of you stared each other down for another moment before Bakugo forced himself forward and shoved himself inside, throwing you off balance and stumbling backwards, unable to stop him.
Bakugo glanced around your apartment. It was nice— expensive. It was expected of a hero of your notoriety, but even more so due to the fact you were a legacy hero. He wouldn’t lie, despite being relatively close friends ever since Raccoon Eyes all but adopted you into the group during first year, he always did chalk you up to just being another rich kid from another long line of heroes that got everything handed to them on a silver platter.
He realized with faint recognition that this was the first time he had set foot in your place. You never invited anyone over, always assuming you just liked your privacy but now… he was sure it was more than that.
Bakugo heard the click of the door shutting behind him, followed by a defeated sigh.
“Why are you here Bakugo?” You asked, clearly exhausted, walking past him and deeper into the apartment as you made your way to the kitchen.
”Hah?” He sneered incredulously, following in tow, “You’re really going to ask me that after what happened this afternoon?”
“I’ve been watching the news all day— you haven’t told anyone yet,” you muttered, reaching the top of your fridge for a bottle of sake.
”Of course I didn’t tell dumbass.”
You threw him a resentful glance over your shoulder, “Well why not?” You spat before unscrewing the top of the bottle and taking a swig before finally seating yourself down at the kitchen island.
Bakugo rounded the island, slamming his hands down on the counter across from you, “How low do you think I am—?”
Your head snapped up, locking your gaze with his once more, ”Pretty fucking low considering I found you going through my shit!— I mean, who even does that!? What were you even trying to find—“
”You’re changing the subject!” Bakugo rushed, ears tinging pink knowing the truth of why he even looked in the first place was embarrassing enough.
There was a pregnant pause before you finally rolled your eyes and took another swig— it didn’t even matter at this point did it? Your life may as well be over anyway…
“What do you want?” You finally sighed, resigned to whatever the rest of this interaction was going to be.
”I want to understand,” he replied, more even and controlled than his previous outbursts, “How have you hid this for so long? —And who else knows about you.”
You exhaled sharply through your nose, fingering the rim of your sake bottle in thought. “Why should I even tell you?”
”I’m not going to say anything.”
“That is until you change your mind.”
”I won’t.” He hissed, “I’m not going to get your license revoked— now will you just answer me.”
You continued to remain silent, making him huff in frustration.
”The cold.”
Your eyes slid to his, confusion painting your face, What?”
”The cold,” he reiterated, clearly annoyed, “It’s my main weakness.”
You narrowed your eyes, “I already know that—“
”I’m just saying— if I tell… then you tell. I have a lot of enemies that would pay for that kinda information.”
You were quiet once more, eyeing him and weighing his words. His own gaze was unrelenting, pinning you in your seat. Bakugo was many things but you never really knew him to go back on his word…
”You’re the only one other than my family, doctor, and trainer that knows,” you sighed, taking a swig, “That’s how we’ve kept it secret, parents that hired a doctor and trainer to mix up the perfect cocktail of drugs and regimens to pass me off as an Alpha. That and a whole lot of hush money.” You muttered sarcastically.
”Why?”
”Why?” You scoffed, “Because I’m a (Y/L/N). We don’t have Omegas, everyone in my family has been born an Alpha and then has trained to become a hero for generations.”
”But you guys do have an Omega.”
You shot him a glare, “Yeah, I’m well aware asshole.”
”So what? Making you a hero was going to somehow save your family name?”
“Yes. That’s exactly what it is. And I was doing a fine job of it too until you decided to stick your nose in places it doesn’t belong.”
Bakugo finally took a seat, “You all actually think you can keep this a secret?” He asked incredulously.
You quirked a brow, “I am.”
He pursed his lips… technically that was true, but more so because it would have been unthinkable that an Omega would have managed to get as far as you have in this field.
Honestly it was a goddamn miracle you even managed to get into class 1-A to begin with.
If it wasn’t for that he probably would have believed you were at least a Beta if not an Omega, especially as your scent gave no indication…
Bakugo perked up, “Why don’t you smell like an Omega?”
“Drugs,” you shrugged, “My brothers also scent me to mask whatever’s left.”
”And what about—“ heats, Bakugo caught himself before he could say it, the realization hitting him over the head like a ton of bricks. You experience heats. A blush spread across his cheeks, mind suddenly clouded by images of you locked away in your bedroom and—
“What about what?” You asked him impatiently, “Are we done here yet? You already get the gist and if I still have a job in the morning then I need to go to bed now.” You stood up, rounding the kitchen island back towards the front door with Bakugo following behind hesitantly. He still had so many questions but was suddenly and actually aware that you were an Omega… he had never been very tactful around Omegas before.
You stood by the now open door, waiting for him to leave.
And so he did, but not before you stopped him with one final thing left to say. You had stopped him with a grip on his bicep, peering up at him with serious eyes, “You need to be aware of how you treat me in public going forward. If you start pulling some Alpha bullshit and favoring me on missions or doting on me in front of our friends I will make sure every one of your enemies finds out Dynamight can’t handle the cold. Understood?”
He bared his teeth and in a low whisper said, “Don’t get such a big head— you’re still an extra to me.”
With that he had tugged his arm from your grasp and headed out.
He would never admit that what you had said was exactly what had been weighing on his mind since he found the pill bottle.

soft spot
pairing: steve harrington x reader
summary: after being drenched by the rain, steve just wants to take care of you whilst reminiscing over his “king steve” days
warnings: none
a/n: it was raining so here you go, also steve is a gossip you can't change my mind
The stairs leading up to your apartment were usually a challenge, but today they felt endless. Each step you took was accompanied by the squelching sound of rainwater trapped in your shoe, only irritating you further as you climbed. Your hair was plastered to your face and you could tell how horrendous the strands looked as they stuck to your skin, drops of rain that still clung to your eyelashes blurred your vision. You started to regret your ambitious decision to walk home, Steve had insisted on picking you up but of course, it had to start pouring halfway home. Typical.
You let out a sigh as you reached the top floor, rummaging in your bag before your hands managed to snag your keys, shivering slightly from your soaked clothes, the coldness seeping into your bones. The door let out a gentle creak as you entered, stepping inside and savouring the warmth of the flat as you allowed it to flow over you.
“Steve?” You called out into the empty room.
Within a few seconds, his head poked out of your shared bedroom, brown hair falling over his forehead from jumping up so quickly. His brown eyes widened as he took in your drenched state.
“Oh, honey, what happened?” His voice was laced with concern, his question answered by the loud crash of thunder that rumbled loudly from outside.
“You said you would call. Look at you! You’re soaked through.” His large hands flew to your coat, heavier due to the rain, peeling it off your body like it was tissue paper.
“I was fine—“ You began to say, only to be cut off by his excessive fussing.
“You’re clearly not,” he shook his head as he hung up your jacket, a small puddle already forming underneath that he would have to deal with later. “I can hear your shoes from here, sweetheart. And your hair—“ he brushed a wet lock out of your face and behind your ear, his concerned expression making you giggle. “You’re shaking, honey. Gonna get sick like this.”
You just smiled at him through your waterlogged lashes, his over-the-top worrying making you laugh more are you batted his hands away. “I’m fine, Steve. Really. It’s just rain, it happens all the time.”
“Nope. No way,” he said, not letting you respond as he was already halfway to the bathroom. “You’re gonna catch a cold and I’m not gonna let that happen.”
His voice was playful but still firm, the sound of running water became audible as he returned to your side.
“Bathtime,” he said teasingly and you knew there would be no point in arguing, not when he was in full-blown protective mode. God, he could be so stubborn sometimes.
The brunette boy led you into the bathroom, muttering under his breath about how you should have just phoned him as you trailed behind, wet clothes dripping onto the floor. You stood patiently in the doorway as he rummaged in underneath the sink, his furrowed brows relaxing as he found what he was searching for. He straightened up with a playful grin and held two bottles, bubble bath from one of those birthday sets you got ages ago and forgot about, finally being put to good use.
“Alright, angel, we got options here,” he said as he inspected the labels on both. “Lavender or…this one’s called ‘Sunset Bliss’. I guess they are bottling sunsets now.”
You roll your eyes before tapping your finger against the small orange bottle, trying to hold back a smile. “Sunset Bliss, obviously.”
“Good choice,” he said whilst nodding as if you passed some sort of test, opening the cap and pouring it into the tub. “Gotta get some sunshine back into today, right?” His voice was light as he leaned over the bath, holding his hand underneath the faucet to check the temperature, adjusting it just how you like it. Just shy of scalding.
He stood back up and hesitated as he looked down at you. “Do you want me to stay with you, or should I wait outside?” His tone was gentle, so as to not pressure you. Just that lovesick gaze that was laced with a hint of concern.
You shrug your shoulders at his question, still shivering slightly as you respond. “You can stay. I still have to tell you what Robin and I got up to.”
Steve’s eyes softened as he nodded, stepping towards you with a tender smile. His fingers were gentle as they brushed against your skin, treating you with care as he helped you out of your rain-soaked clothes. He was so sweet as he worked, treating you as if you were the most precious thing to him. To which he would probably agree.
There was nothing suggestive in his movements, no expectation—just the quiet intimacy you had come to associate him with. He adored being close to you in this way.
Once you were free of the drenched clothes, he held onto your arm as you lowered yourself into the water, feeling a sense of pride as you sighed in relief. The water was soothing to your freezing skin, helping thaw out your numb fingers and toes. He took a seat on the bathmat next to you, resting his chin on the edge of the tub as he gazed at you expectantly. He always had a soft spot for your ramblings.
“So,” he began as he drew out the word, an amused look on his face. “What did you and Robin get up to while I was slaving away at work? Any trouble?”
You splash a bit of water on his face at his teasing before sinking deeper beneath the bubbles, beginning to babble about your day, not leaving anything out as he loved hearing all the small details. No matter how mundane. He listened, amber eyes focused as he nodded along, occasionally throwing in a sarcastic comment and then laughing at his own joke. God, he was a dork.
Steve reached out and traced small patterns on your arm with his fingers, his touch light. “Do you want me to wash your hair, sweetheart?” He asked you with eager eyes—he always wanted to do things for you. Things you really didn’t need help with. He was constantly coming up with excuses, helping you made him feel good. He liked to feel needed.
You shook your head with a chuckle. “You don’t have to.”
He scoffed and you knew he would not take no for an answer, already reaching out for the shampoo bottle on the side of the tub. “I know I don’t have to. I want to.” He said with finality, popping open the cap and allowing the scent of citrus to fill the steamy air. “Besides, I’ve got hair down to a science,” he said with a wink as he moved behind you.
You tilted your head back to look up at him and he placed a soft kiss against your lips, gently moving you to face forwards, careful not to get any water in your eyes. His fingers were firm as they massaged your scalp, blunt nails moving perfectly as you shut your eyes, leaning closer to where he knelt.
“You do have great hair,” you tease, eyes still shut, focusing on the motion of his hands.
“Steve ‘the hair’ Harrington was my nickname in high school,” he smirked, you don’t see how proud he looked of the title at that moment.
“Part of your charm huh?” You poked at him.
“Oh, absolutely,” he agreed as he carried on with his movements. “Speaking of charm,” he continued, “any updates on Robin and Vicky? Has she finally made anything resembling moves?”
You groaned as you recalled the previous conversation you had earlier that day, the hour spent listening to Robin pining. “She is still being awkward about it. I swear she panics every time she talks to her, and you know how she talks too much when she’s nervous.”
Steve snickered, a sound so boyish you couldn’t help but join in. “Robin? No way.” His sarcasm earned him another splash to the face, making him laugh even harder.
“Hey! I’m just stating the facts!” He said. “But seriously, she needs to just ask her out already. Vicky is clearly into her.”
“I know right? They would be adorable together,” you agreed with him, enjoying the playful sass he was giving. If there was one thing Steve secretly loved, it would be gossip. He ate it up just like he did back in school, he always knew the drama from listening to people talk in the hallways. Plus he could never keep a secret, that’s what he had you for. You pretty much knew what every citizen of Hawkins was going through based on their movie choices at Family Video, he always kept you up to date on those.
“She better not mess it up,” Steve added, rubbing conditioner through your hair, making sure to focus extra on the ends. “Might have to step in. Play matchmaker.”
You scoffed at the statement. “Like you’d do any better?”
He shoved your head playfully. “Honey, I have excellent matchmaking skills. You’re looking at the guy who got Nancy and Jonathan together—but maybe that’s not the best example.” He paused, thinking for a second, before the both of you burst into laughter.
You felt his hands slow as he finished working product through your hair, you turned your head to find him looking at you warmly. “I’m not worried about Robin and Vicky. If they’re meant to be, they’ll figure it out. Just like we did.”
Your heart clenched at the look on his face, all soft eyes and adoring smiles. The expression that was reserved for you and you alone.
“Yeah,” you whispered as you turned back around, allowing him to carefully rinse your hair for the final time. “Just like we did.”
He finished up and shifted to your side once more, fully facing you. “All done, angel. Feeling better?” His voice was low and sweet, like syrup. Sticky and saccharine.
“Thank you,” you tell him honestly, as you move to get up. He rose as you did, hands outstretched to help you climb over the ledge of the bath, making sure you were steady on the bathmat before reaching for a towel. Wrapping you up with exaggerated care.
“Alright, sweetheart, wait here. No running off,” he said as he finished tucking the towel around you.
You giggled, watching him scoop up your pile of wet clothes from the bathroom floor. “And where exactly would I go?”
He walked to the door and held a finger up, pointing at you. “Knowing you, you’d probably find some trouble to get into. Plus, I don’t want to mop up any more water from the living room, so stay put.”
He disappeared into the hallway and you could hear the familiar beep from the dryer, along with him talking to himself about what buttons to push. He always complained about how many setting the damn thing had.
Not wanting to keep you waiting for long, he reappeared, holding a pair of your pyjama bottoms and—of course—one of his old school jumpers.
He handed them both to you with a small smile. “Vintage Hawkins, what do you think?”
You raised an eyebrow as you inspected the item. “Didn’t think you’d want me wearing something that is so… ‘King Steve’”
Barking out a laugh as he helped you into the soft material. You had spoken a bit about his past, he openly disclosed that he may not have been the best person then. You withheld using the nickname, usually reserving it for when you wanted to rile him up.
“I don’t mind,” he said with a shrug. “You would’ve been way too good for me back then. No way we’d be friends in high school. I was kind of a dick.”
You hummed as you wriggled into the dry clothes. “Kind of?”
Steve held a hand to his chest in mock offence. “Wow, okay! That hurts, honey. I’m nicer now aren’t I?”
He helped you tug up your pyjama bottoms, taking a step back to admire you, as if you were dolled up for a date. He loved you like this. Warm and comfy, wearing his clothes. “You are very nice. Maybe too nice.”
He flashed that beautiful, boyish grin once again. “Too nice? No such thing.” He pulled you closer to him. “I had to change my tactics to win you over. I’m whipped for you, just ask Robin.”
Leading you to the couch and pulling you down next to him, he grabbed a blanket and draped it over you both, looking over your shoulder to make sure your feet were covered too.
“You know, I don’t think I would have liked you much back then,” you teased, poking his side and earning a surprised yelp from the boy beneath you. “Mr. ‘I’m too cool for everyone.’”
Steve ruffled your drying hair playfully before continuing. “Yeah, I was pretty insufferable,” you can hear the cringe in his voice as he looks away, cheeks heating slightly at the embarrassing memories. “But look at me now, completely reformed and with a gorgeous girl looking all pretty in my lap.”
It was your turn to blush as you hid your face in his chest, TV playing softly in the background as you let yourself melt into his embrace. He always made it easy for you to unwind around him. Completely relax. It was simple with Steve, it always was.
“I’m glad I’m not that guy anymore,” he said, his quiet voice laced with sincerity, fingers running through your hair. “Because now, I get to be here with you.”
You tilted your head upwards, eyelids beginning to droop, surrounded by his warmth. “I’m glad too,” you tell him as you feel your body getting heavier.
The white noise from the TV and Steve’s embrace lulled you into a gentle sleep. He smiled down at you, seeing you completely at peace on his chest. He placed a soft kiss on your temple, inhaling the smell of you mixed with the citrus shampoo he had used earlier. He felt content, full.
“Goodnight, sweetheart,” he whispered, not speaking too loud at the risk of waking you. His fingers drew shapes across your back as the TV droned on, but he wasn’t paying it the slightest bit of attention. Way too focused on the sweet girl in his arms, and nothing in this world could make him want to move.

trevor zegras
adelaide and matt had slept in seeing as neither of them had training or a game.
the thing that woke them up from their nap was when addy’s older brothers best friends voice rang through their apartment.
“addy, are you home?” trevor asked.
trevor knew no limits so he walked straight into the younger girls room ready to jump in her bed. however, he was greeted with a sleep adelaide on top of a sleeping matt rempe
the new york native screamed causing addy and matt to jump out of bed.
upon seeing trevor, adelaide moved away from matt and stood on the side. she slipped a sweater over her head and turned to her brothers friend
“z, what the fuck are you doing here?” addy asked. she threw a shirt at her boyfriend, who simply pulled it on without a word.
“what am i doing? i came here to spend time with my honorary sister and im met with the rangers number one fighter. im concerned addy,” trevor rambled.
matt couldn’t help the smile on his face. after all the stories he’d heard about your brothers, trevor seemed like a true friend.
adelaide’s eyes softened as she lunged at the boy for a hug. “i’m fine z. matty makes me happy, like really happy,”
trevor patted the younger girls head and glared at matt. “that’s all i want addy,”

cole caufield
adelaide was having her monthly catch-up with cole as she cooked dinner for her and matt.
however, half-way through cole had to answer some texts on the team group chat leaving the two in silence.
whilst adelaide was cooking, she failed to notice her boyfriends arrival. the tall canadian stood by the doorway, admiring his girlfriend.
“well don’t you look so pretty,” matt complimented
the taller boy stood behind adelaide and pressed kisses on her neck as she plated their food in front of the camera.
when adelaide looked up she was met with cole’s shocked face. matt looked at her girlfriends phone and stepped back a bit.
“shit. is this what z meant? he mentioned you were seeing someone but i thought you’d tell me!” cole ranted.
“and you. you may be taller than me but i will fight you. god damn addy now i owe trevor $100.” cole muttered before ending the call.

william nylander and matthew knies
adelaide had been having a tough couple of weeks so she took some personal days and flew to toronto without telling anyone.
“adelaide?” willy asked as he saw the girl outside the practice arena.
he noticed her sunken eyes and the frail state her body was in. william immediately rushed to the girl and held her as she broke in his arms.
“come on älskling. you’re coming home with me,” willy asked matthew knies to help him, knowing that you two knew each other.
matthew helped put you in william’s car when your phone started ringing excessively. willy was tempted to ignore it but he didn’t know whether you’d told anyone of your whereabouts so he answered.
“ada!” matt rempe answered on the other side.
“this is william nylander, who are you?” he asked.
matthew urged his teammate to put the phone on speaker and that is what the blonde did.
“i’m matt. is adelaide there?”
“matt who?”
“matt rempe. look i just got back to our apartment and she isn’t here. i’ve called barzy and the martin’s but they haven’t seen her either”, matt rambled.
“she here. she’s in toronto,” willy answered.
“is she okay?” matt’s voice was timid, worried about his girlfriend.
“not really, but i’ll keep her with me for a bit,”
“can you hand her the phone please,”
william turned the phone off speaker and handed it to adelaide.
“matty,” she mumbled.
“hi ada, is willy going to make you feel better?” matt knew how close the two were during their time in toronto. he also knew that other than barzy and tito, willy was the only one who could get her out of a slump.
“willy’s the best. he always looks after me and kniesy’s here too. i miss you,” adelaide smiled at the two leaf players.
“i miss you too princess. get some rest and call me later, i love you,”
“i love you matty,” adelaide ended the call and was about to close her eyes.
“so you share an apartment with matt rempe.” kniesy stated.
adelaide hummed “i share an apartment with my boyfriend,”

brendan brisson
brendan and adelaide were in the latters room playing smash or pass whilst they waited for dinner.
brendan was scrolling through a girls list of hockey players on tiktok as they both shouted out their answers.
“eww i can’t believe people find my brothers attractive,” adelaide groaned seeing jack for the sixth time.
brendan laughed and continued scrolling until they landed on matt rempe.
“oh i’ve seen him on fyp, the girls really seem to like him,” brendan added.
adelaide let out a nervous laugh. “pass. he’s a ranger, i’d be hung,”
of course, the knights prospect read between the lines. “okay forget his team, smash or pass?” he asked.
“well pass, he’s not really my type i guess. i don’t know briss,” adelaide answered truthfully.
brendan scoffed. “i think you’d smash. actually i think you already have,” he accused the girl.
adelaide got off her bed and looked to her best friend. “w-w-what, you’re crazy brendan. why would i hook up with a ranger?”
“i don’t know addy but i think he’s the guy you’re soft launching. i mean when i showed you the picture you started blushing. whenever any of the guys brings your boyfriend up you just say he’s tall. also i saw the way he looked at you at the isles vs rangers game i went to,”
brendan gave his best friend a pointed look.
the girl caved fast confessing everything to brendan from the time she met matt to them living together.
“who else knows?” brendan asked.
“well cole, trevor, my team, kniesy, willy, our parents and braden schneider,” addy answered.
“how do cole and trevor know before me!!” brendan exclaimed.
“they caught us,” adelaide replied sheepishly.

mat barzal and the team
the islanders were out having drinks after their season and to celebrate adelaide's new sponsor.
of course, adelaide celebrated too much as she hung onto mat and slurred her words. her teammates found it amusing as she gave them all advice on their love lives.
"mat. i love you, i really do but i swear if you show up to training camp with a shaved head finding a girlfriend would be the least of your worries," she threatened.
the boys laughed as mat dropped the girl off on their goalie ilya sorokin. the girl then started counting in russian and muttering random curse words causing the others who understood to look at the girl in amusement.
"oh no, i have to factory reset her to english," mat groaned as adelaide began rambling on in different languages intertwining with her sentences.
adelaide then laid her head onto ilya's shoulder. "i miss matt," she mumbled in english. the poor goalie then pointed at his two teammates with the same name, making the girl excited.
"eww, that's not matt. i want to go home to matty," she whined.
matt martin carried the younger girl out the bar as she stumbled over her feet, mumbling about 'matt'. barzy was given her bag as he searched for a contact under that name.
just as he was about to hand the phone back to adelaide, she received a call from 'remmy 🐀'.
"ada, it's 2:30. you told me to call if I don't hear from you at this time," matt answered on the other end.
"are you matt?" barzy asked.
matt straightened up and prepared to head out the door. "yeah, I'm matt. umm is ada alright?"
"she's fine. i mean a little wasted but functioning,"
"i'll come pick her up. i've got her location, i should be there in ten minutes,"
barzy put adelaide's phone in her bag and hung it over his shoulder. "addy, matt's on his way," he told the younger girl, holding a bottle of water to her lips.
despite some having families and significant others, they all waited to ensure that adelaide got home safe even if that meant they walked across the city for her.
the sounds of matt's jeep alerted the crowd and the boy pulled up as close as possible before stepping out.
adelaide smiled at the sight of her boyfriend. she pushed away from her teammate and stumbled into matt's arm, the boy catching his girlfriend.
"matty, look this one and this one has the same name as you!" she exclaimed, pointing at the other two.
matt smiled at adelaide's teammates and fixed his grip around her waist. "come on ada, let's get you in the car and then I'll run you a bath when we get home,"
adelaide’s teammates looked at one another and then at how comfortable the girl was. “bye friends! i’m gonna miss you,” she shouted out the car door.
“is that?” one of the guys asked as they watched the couple drive away.
“yup,” barzy replied.
“with ..”
“we all pretend we don’t know until she tells us,” anders lee told the group before they split.

High Flyer - Part Two
pairing: charles x reader
summary: no spoilers 🤭
masterlist series masterlist requests open
—————————
You stayed a week extra in Abu Dhabi, not needing to return to Maranello quite yet. You could say that the allure of Ferrari World was too much, and Carlos talked it up to you. It was perfectly silly and probably the best second date you ever had.
The photos of you and Charles post-race were popular among fans, trying to figure out who he is. Then the video dropped, and you found yourself trending in the community once more.
“They are just as fascinated with you as I am,” Charles has said over a video call when talking about it shortly after becoming official.
It takes a lot for you to make the relationship work, strictly timed video calls, staying positive during the periods of time when you don’t get to talk to him, even sending letters back and forth. Somehow it works for you, and you cherish the moments when you get to talk face to face.
The glittering Monaco harbor is behind you as you put your earring in, preparing for the prize giving ceremony. Thankfully it’s not far from your apartment, and you only have to be there for your second place award. You hear a knock on your door and grab your phone, just in case it’s a crazy fan who snuck past the door guards.
“Charles?” you gasp, looking at the man in a suit in front of you, a small suitcase in tow.
“Bonsoir, ma cherie. I heard you are in need of a date tonight?” he smiles as you practically throw yourself on him. Charles holds you tight, savoring the moment.
“How are you here?” you ask in disbelief, the shock distracting you from how good he looks in his dress uniform.
“I got a couple days off. Max helped coordinate the surprise,” Charles reveals, your neighbor and friend pulling through for you.
“I’m so glad you are here,” you catch him off guard by pressing a kiss to his lips, melting into his arms.
“I’m glad I am here too, you look beautiful, and I’ve missed you so much,” he says softly, taking in your Ferrari red dress that fits you perfectly.
“I missed you too, this is much nicer than a video call,” you sigh, not wanting to step out of his embrace, fearing that if you do he will disappear. You know that his assignment is almost up, but you learned that ‘almost up’ means a year.
“I know, but I wouldn’t miss this for anything. I get to celebrate my incredibly talented girlfriend,” he pulls back slightly, aware of the time and that you need to leave soon.
“What if we just don’t go and stay in?” you suggest. Any desire to go flew out the window when you opened your front door.
“No, we will go, you will give your speech, and then as soon as it’s over we can leave. You have me for a couple more days,” Charles kisses you once more, not really helping the whole wanting to stay thing.
You rarely lose physical contact with him on the way over to the ceremony, whether it’s holding his hand, his hand on your waist or leg, or you holding his arm.
“Don’t you two look happy,” Max smiles, proud of himself for the surprise. You and Charles make for a much better looking pair than the fan ship of you and Max. Not to mention, Max is like your brother.
“Thank you,” you whisper as you quickly hug Max. Charles shakes Max’s hand after.
“You may have chosen the most boring event to make your first appearance as a couple at,” Max chuckles, leading the two of you to the bar.
“Well, they wouldn’t let me skip it,” you grumble.
“What are you grumbling about?” Carlos approaches your small group.
“That she couldn’t skip this,” Max says before you can reply. Charles squeezes your hand as you roll your eyes at Max. You take a glass of wine, needing something other than champagne.
“And miss a chance to show off her new boyfriend? I doubt it. Aren’t you glad that the PR team chose me to go to Ferrari World instead of you?” Carlos smiles, knowing that he’s right.
“No,” you lie, “I had to pay to go myself after the race. Charles was the only good part about the media duties,” you slightly lean into your boyfriend.
“Sure. We can both go to the amusement park next year and I’ll pay,” Carlos chuckles, grabbing his drink from the bar.
“Let’s find our seats?” Charles suggests, kissing the side of your head. You quickly find your table, Fred already there to represent the team in the Constructors Championship.
“My sometimes favorite drivers,” Fred jovially greets you and Carlos as if he didn’t see you in Maranello a week ago for a sim session.
The ceremony drags on, you take every opportunity to converse with Charles and your table, but you are subject to hours of awards and speeches. When the night is finally over, you turn down every afterparty invitation thrown your way.
“I am not going to place in the top three next year,” you groan as you slide your heels off. Charles is immediately drawn to the piano that sits in your living room.
“Do you play?” he asks, looking natural behind the keys.
“Not well or often enough, the former renter left it here. I keep it maintained though,” you hum, sitting beside him gently. Charles runs his fingers across the ivory keys, trying to recall a song.
“Well then, let me to the honors,” he smiles, fingers pressing down, easily gliding up and down the keyboard.
“That was incredible, you are incredible,” you say softly afterwards, you’ve never been serenaded before and it’s a turn on.
Charles leans in, capturing you in a kiss. His large, calloused hand rough against your cheek. When you pull away, you lead him to your bedroom, craving all the contact that you missed since you last saw him physically.
The air is charged as he unzips your dress, fingers brushing your bare skin sensually, making you arc into him. Charles brushes your hair off your shoulder and neck, pressing featherlight kisses to the area. Your breaths are shallow, breathless from everything.
“Charles,” you whisper, his name like a prayer on your lips, asking for anything and everything.
“Let me take care of you, ma reine,” he replies, nudging you back towards the bed as your red dress slides off your body. You hands slide up his chest, pausing to push off his suit jacket before they rest on his neck and in his hair.
After a long night, you spend the morning rotting in bed. Charles holds you close as you talk about anything and everything. You take him out on your yacht later in the day, a nice change of scenery.
“I don’t want you to leave tomorrow,” you admit as the sea breeze pushes your hair around.
“I don’t want to either, but I’ve been reassigned to southern France. I’ll get to see you more often,” Charles reminds you. You nod, fighting any tears back at the thought of separating again.
“I know, I just love you,” you bittersweetly smile, a pang in your heart as he pulls you close.
“And I love you,” he says softly, savoring the feeling of your embrace.
You see him a few more times before pre-season testing, visiting him off base and vice versa. The visits were short but worth every moment. Charles calls you when you are leaving dinner after the first day of testing.
“Mon amour, how was testing?” he asks, sweaty from a flight.
“My body is sore, but it was good. I just had dinner with my kids,” you smile, a small pack of drivers behind you.
“Oh, Oscar and Logan are there? Tell yhem hello for me,” Charles smiles.
“Hi Dad, Logan isn’t here,” Oscar smiles, popping into the frame and stealing your phone. You carried the loss of your son deeply, but you don’t blame Charles for forgetting that Logan wasn’t on the grid anymore since you said you were with multiple grid kids.
“You haven’t told him?” Ollie asks, large brown eyes looking sad at his exclusion.
“I just adopted you, kiddo. It’s hard to break the news that he’s now a father to twins and a grandfather,” you laugh, pulling Ollie into a hug. It didn’t take you long to adopt more grid kids, in fact as soon as you got to the paddock Ollie and Kimi came up to you calling you mom. It’s like the cat distribution system. Oscar adopted the new Australian on the grid, citing the Alpine connection, meaning you are a grid grandma. Oscar comes back to you and hands your phone to you.
“We are grandparents?” Charles asks, a little bewildered.
“Yes, funnily enough our grandchild was born at the same time as our twins,”
“Twins?”
“Hi Dad!” Ollie and Kimi say at the same time when you turn the phone to them.
“Hello?” Charles is confused but he does love how you take in the rookies and make them feel at home.
“Sorry, Charles, why don’t I call you when I get back to my hotel?” you smile apologetically, wanting to have time for both of you.
“Of course, call me when you get back,” Charles agrees, no trace of disappointment in his voice. He doesn’t have much to share about his day, especially since he doesn’t have a scheduled flight for a while. Charles watches as the call ends, thankful that he didn’t spoil his surprise.
Testing passes and suddenly it’s the first race of the season. You walk into the paddock, your brood with you. You, Ollie, and Kimi are deep in conversation, confusing Oscar and Jack a bit as you speak in Italian. You’ve already had movie nights that ended with them strewn across your hotel room, and you just know that they will be in and out of your room this season. F1TV already caught Ollie leaning against you taking a nap as you hugged him last season, and they captured Kimi doing something similar during testing.
“Papà,” Kimi says suddenly and you furrow your brows. Jack taps your shoulder and points ahead. Your smile grows as you notice Charles standing ahead, waiting for you. You take off, practically jumping into his arms.
“You’re here,” you grin, barely waiting to kiss him.
“I had to fulfill my WAG duties and meet our children,” he smiles, not letting you out of the hug yet. He utilized his brother Arthur, your reserve driver, to get a pass. Your face was priceless when you first connected the two, it was quite funny how long it took. Apparently sharing a last name and resemblance wasn’t enough until he mentioned it on the phone shortly after Abu Dhabi.
“Get a room,” Oscar makes a face that causes both of you to laugh.
“Oh we will,” you lean into your boyfriend, content to never leave.
“Ewww,” Ollie gags, disgusted at the idea. You and Charles laugh, like proud parents embarrassing your kids.
“That’s Ollie, this is Kimi, our grandson Jack, and you know Oscar,” you point to each boy.
“Nice to meet you all officially,” Charles smiles as he keeps an arm wrapped around your waist.
“Alright kiddos, time for you all to get to your teams. Drive safely,” you part ways with them, itching to get to Ferrari for some private time. Charles insists on getting a coffee before going to your drivers room, and the two of you barely get a second alone before there is a knock on your door. You pull away from Charles, irritation laced in your voice. “I just got here, go away,” you call out before pulling your boyfriend back in.
“I know you are hiding my brother from me,” Arthur’s voice responds causing you to pull away, a slight pout on your lips. Charles quietly laughs, pressing a quick kiss to your lips before he gets up to open the door. Arthur struts in, sitting between you and Charles. You did have the chance to spend time with the Leclercs in their home.
“You know, brother, if you wanted to get with Y/n earlier, you should’ve just asked me. You are lucky I suggested that the media team send her instead of Carlos,” Arthur says and you gasp.
“YOU ARE THE REASON HE GOT FERRARI WORLD INSTEAD?” you practically yell, causing Charles to stifle a laugh. You aren’t mad, well you are but in more of a joking way, sorta.
“She really did not like flying,” Charles clarifies, stretching an arm behind Arthur to play with your hair, a comforting touch.
“At least you met eachother?” Arthur suggests sheepishly.
“He was going to be at the race anyway,” you narrow your eyes.
“You trauma bonded?” Arthur suggests again and your eyes light up.
“Have you ever seen the video of Charles during his hot laps?” you ask, wickedly smiling. Charles looks at you, a mix of panic and curiosity in his eyes.
“No, show me!”
“Nope. That blackmail belongs to me, since you so kindly took away my fun,” you shake your head, locking your phone. Charles lets out a breath of relief, he trusts you completely, but he was worried for a second.
“You’re no fun. You never even adopted me into your grid family,” Arthur pouts as you and Charles lock eyes, shared amusement between you.
“Arthur, why would she adopt you? You are my brother,”
“I don’t know, because she’s the most sought after grid parent. Plus, it’s not like you two are engaged,” Arthur says and you flush with embarrassment and flattery.
“Arthur, you are basically my brother, you don’t need to be my grid kid. You are on the same level as Charles and Carlos,” you are starting to feel like a parent describing something to a young kid.
“I guess that is better. You better mention that when making a family tree video,” Arthur concedes.
“Why don’t we go out for dinner after the second practice session?” Charles suggests, hoping to kill some of the awkwardness.
“I think that’s a great idea. Speaking of, I should start getting ready,” you catch Charles’ unspoken message, hoping to get Arthur out of your room.
“Right, I should do my job too,” Arthur stands up, half expecting Charles to follow, but isn’t surprised when he stays. They can catch up while you drive.
“Finally a moment alone,” Charles grins moving closer to you.
“I wasn’t lying, I do need to get ready,” you say between kisses.
“You need to undress first, and I can help with that,” Charles murmurs against your lips as his hands slide underneath your shirt.
“We are working on limited time,” you point out, brain fogging.
“We go fast for a living, we can do it,” you were a few minutes late for your prep meeting. Arthur gave you a weird look, one that told you he knew what you were up to.
Both Charles and Arthur were glad to have the weekend together, spending time as a family while you raced. Before you knew it, Charles was kissing you goodbye at the airport as you both went to your next stops. His France and yours Saudi Arabia.
What you didn’t expect was Arthur banging on your driver room door as you are prepping.
“I’m in, I’m driving,” Arthur seems to be freaking out a little bit as you let him in, dressed in a Ferrari suit.
“Carlos is out?”
“He’s in the hospital getting surgery. I’m driving a Formula One car,” you process it beside him, remaining much more calm than Arthur.
“Did you call your mom?” you ask, knowing the answer is likely no since he would’ve been in team meetings since he found out. Arthur shakes his head no, so you squeeze his shoulder and grab your phone.
“Y/n, what a surprise. Is everything okay?” Pascale’s voice rings out over the phone.
“I’m sending a jet to you right now, and I’ll send the flight details in a bit. Arthur will drive his first F1 race and you should be here,” you tell her over speaker phone, working everything out starting with the flights.
“Is Arthur with you?” she asks as Arthur peers over your shoulder.
“Hello Maman,” you tune out their conversation as you send her the jet details and start working on hotel rooms for her, Lorenzo, and Charlotte as well as paddock passes. You only really get out of your planning zone when Arthur grabs your phone to hang up and hug you.
“You okay?” you finally ask, knowing he is probably emotionally drained already.
“I can’t wait for you to officially be my sister, and I can’t wait to drive alongside you this weekend,” Arthur says, you gently rub his back to ground him.
“You will do a great job. Let’s get through free practice three and then we can talk about some tricks to make it work for you,” you stand up, grabbing your gear to head to the garage.
You try to help him out as the team gets him adjusted and tested for approval, but you have your own driving to worry about too. It’s very clear to the team that you are looking out for Arthur and want to help him learn the ropes. But when it’s time to get into the car, he is own his own. You do well in your program running, but check in on Arthur periodically via your engineer.
Arthur qualifies well for a rookie, and you start the race second row at P3. He is the first person to greet you in Ferrari after you return from the media gauntlet.
“Congrats on P3,” Arthur smiles, showered and ready to go back to the hotel.
“Thanks! You did pretty well for your first time. Give me like 20 minutes to shower, yeah?” you ask, ready to get some sleep.
“Thanks again for helping me get through today, I see why everyone wants you as their grid mom,” Arthur says, not protesting when you hug him.
“Of course, I want you to succeed,” you reply, excited to see his reaction when his family is waiting at the hotel for him. The team covered their hotel rooms since you booked flights before they could.
“I can’t wait for you to be my actual sister one day,” Arthur yawns, your face Ferrari red at the thought. Of course you thought about it, but having him say it is different, it’s more real.
“Maybe one day,” you say, sliding into your chauffeured car. Arthur gets in beside you, and finds himself as your pillow. You accidentally fell asleep as the car left the circuit. Arthur takes a selfie and sends it to his family group chat as your soft snores fill the car. He scrolls on instagram, killing the rest of the time on the drive, when he sees an edit that the F1 account posted. It is the free practice three timesheet with your last name changed to Leclerc. He sends it to you, knowing you wouldn’t want to be awakened for it even if it is funny.
“Y/n,” Arthur pokes you as you arrive at the hotel.
“Hmm, sorry. You should’ve woke me up once I fell asleep, you don’t have to be my pillow,” you yawn, slightly stretching before getting out of the car.
“Maman,” Arthur hugs Pascale, who is patiently waiting at the entrance for him.
“I’m so proud of you,” she says before stopping you from slipping past. Not that you were going to avoid her, you just assumed she would want privacy with Arthur. “And you, thank you for today. You are a part of this family,” she wraps you in a hug, making sure you know how much your effort was appreciated.
“Of course, you couldn’t miss Arthur’s first race. I’ll let you guys catch up,” you smile, hugging her one last time.
“Can’t have you falling asleep again,” Arthur teases, your smile deceives your joking irritation.
“You won’t let me live that down, will you?” you say, shaking your head. “I will see you in the morning for breakfast,” you bid them goodnight, ready to collapse in the plush hotel bed.
It’s a sight to see, you walking into the paddock with the Leclerc’s (minus Charles) behind you. It’s clear to fans that you have been easily incorporated into the family. Charles watches from afar, having the day off from officer duties. He sends a couple texts, wishing you luck and a few memes from fans based on the post made by F1. You reply when you can, but it’s sporadic.
“Ready to lose?” Max asks you during the drivers parade.
“I should ask you the same. But if it means I don’t have to sit through prize giving again, then yes I am ready to lose,”
“It’s not that bad,”
“You won your third championship, you are used to it. Plus, you hate those events more than me, don’t lie,” you laugh.
“Alright, that is fair,” Max relents. He ends up winning, but you climbed a position and took P2. You won’t hear the Italian anthem this week, but you sing it in your head on the podium as you get your trophy. The teams energy is infectious, even for P2. Arthur meets you in the motorhome, holding a phone to your face.
“Congrats, mon amour,” Charles says, a proud smile on his face.
“I drove okay, Arthur drove well though! Points in his first race,” you smile, accepting hugs from Lorenzo and Charlotte. Pascale stole Arthur’s phone, taking Charles away from you.
“Any recommendations for dinner?” Lorenzo asks, ready to celebrate.
“A few. Will you two come out tonight to celebrate?” you ask, adjusting the suit that hangs at your waist.
“Someone has to stay with Pascale, but I know Arthur will party tonight,” Charlotte politely turns down the offer.
“I will, I heard Max always sets up good parties,” Arthur is excited to celebrate with the grid.
“Expensive parties, you are lucky I’m picking up the tab for you,” you laugh, Arthur’s phone being placed in your hand.
“You look tired, call me when you get to your room,” Charles smiles sympathetically.
“Will do, love you,” you smile back, handing the phone to Arthur as you make your way to your driver room. True to your word, you call him once you shower and change. It takes another twenty minutes on the phone for Arthur to bang down your door, reminding you that you have a family dinner to get to.
“Enjoy dinner, I love you,” Charles says before hanging up.
The season flys after that, especially when Ferrari begins to get very competitive again, putting more pressure on you and Carlos.
Charles got leave approved to go with you to the prize giving, both of you deciding to make a mini vacation out of it. The night before, you go to a small Parisian restaurant for an early dinner then a sunset walk along the Seine.
“What was your favorite part of the season?” Charles asks, wrapping an arm around you.
“Hmm, maybe winning Miami, or finally getting more consistent at the end of the season. The PR team would want me to say the trip in Abu Dahbi they arraigned for Carlos and I since I publicly complained that only he went to the Ferrari World last year,” you ponder the question, not having thought about it. You and Carlos had a blast, and it made both of you think of taking trips to amusement parks during winter break. “What was yours?”
“That graphic of you with my last name,” Charles reveals with a smile, he still makes you blush like a schoolgirl.
“That was a good choice,” you see something on the other side of the river and take a step away to get a close look.
You turn towards him to point it out and that’s when you find him on one knee.
“I’ve been waiting since the start of the season to ask you this. I knew during testing that you were the one and that I would marry you, then when everything in Saudi Arabia happened, it confirmed it more. You are my everything, and my forever. Will you marry me?” Charles asks, watching you tearfully nod.
“Yes,” you nod, watching him slide on the ring. Charles is beaming as he pulls you in for a kiss.
“Forever,” you whisper your promise against his lips.
“What if we get married tonight?” Charles asks, the thought springing into his mind.
“Tonight? Why not,” you grin, a rush of adrenaline going through you.
“We will have to wait for the paperwork, but I’m sure we can find a priest,” Charles kisses you, as he mentally plans it.
“Let’s find the nearest church, maybe the priest is a Ferrari fan,” you wink. The priest was, and was more than happy to marry you despite no wedding certificate. Your families were ecstatic, especially when you both promised to have a formal wedding during summer break.

for the first time
"it's just like seeing her" "for the first time" "again"
pairings: amelia shepherd x fem!reader
warnings/tags: angst with a hint of fluff at the end. mentions of amelia having a relapse.
summary: you reunite with amelia after she comes back from rehab.
the corridors of grey sloan memorial hospital held a familiarity that felt like home. the steady rhythm of beeping monitors, hurried footsteps, and murmured conversations had been the soundtrack to your life for years. it was comforting, yet today, as you walked through the halls, there was an undercurrent of unease you couldn’t quite shake. maybe it was the fact that you hadn’t been back in seattle for a while, or perhaps it was the uneasiness that always seemed to follow you since things fell apart with amelia.
mark had paged you for a consult. another reconstructive case that needed your expertise. you were good at this— rebuilding, putting things back together. it was what you did best, even if you couldn’t always apply the same skill to your own life.
you turned a corner sharply, your mind preoccupied with the upcoming surgery, and collided with someone. papers flew into the air like a cascade of autumn leaves, and you stumbled back, reaching out to steady the person you’d bumped into.
"i’m so sorry! i didn’t see you," you apologized, dropping to your knees to gather the scattered documents.
"no, it’s okay, i wasn’t looking where i was going either," a familiar voice replied.
you froze, your hand hovering over a paper as the recognition hit you like a tidal wave. you slowly looked up, heart hammering in your chest, and found yourself staring into the eyes of amelia shepherd.
"hi," she said softly, her voice carrying a hint of surprise mixed with something else— something you couldn’t quite place.
"hi," you echoed, your voice barely more than a whisper.
the hospital faded away, the bustle of nurses and doctors becoming a distant murmur as you stood there, looking at each other. she looked almost exactly the same as the last time you’d seen her. her hair was shorter, yes, but her eyes still held that familiar spark of determination and defiance. there was a vulnerability in her gaze, though, that hadn’t been there before.
for a moment, you were both back at johns hopkins, two young residents studying late into the night, navigating the grueling demands of your profession while also navigating the complexities of your relationship. she’d been your world back then, the anchor that kept you grounded when everything else felt like it was spinning out of control.
"amelia…" you began, but before you could find the right words, your pager buzzed, breaking the moment. you glanced down, seeing mark’s name flashing on the small screen. "i—i have to go," you stammered, taking a step back. "mark’s paging me."
"yeah, of course," she replied quickly, masking the disappointment that flashed across her face. "i’ll see you around?"
you nodded, still trying to process the fact that she was standing in front of you. "yeah, sure."
as you walked away, you couldn’t help but look back. amelia was still standing there, watching you go, a wistful expression on her face. a wave of emotions threatened to overwhelm you, but you pushed them down, focusing on the task at hand. mark needed you, and that’s where your focus had to be.
mark was waiting for you in the attending lounge, leaning casually against the counter, his arms crossed over his chest. he looked up when you entered, a knowing smile tugging at the corners of his lips.
"what took you so long?" he asked, his tone teasing.
"i, uh, got held up," you replied vaguely, trying to shake off the encounter with amelia. "what did you want my opinion on?"
mark handed you a patient file, but his eyes stayed on your face, studying you intently. "i was looking at a complicated reconstruction case. thought you might have some ideas. but, you know, since you’ve been avoiding seattle like the plague, i haven’t been able to ask for your expertise in a while."
you knew he was baiting you, and you weren’t in the mood. "i’ve been busy, mark. you know that."
"sure," he said with a shrug, his expression still smug. "by the way, did you know amelia’s here?"
the file slipped from your hands, falling to the floor. you bent to pick it up, trying to hide the sudden rush of emotions his words caused. "yeah," you said, your voice more steady than you felt. "i ran into her in the hall."
mark’s eyes gleamed with amusement. "and? how was that?"
you shot him a glare. "she said hi. i said hi back. then you paged me."
"really?" he said, his voice laced with disbelief. "because she looked like she wanted to say more than just hi."
"do you know why she’s here?" you asked, changing the subject.
"nope," he said, shaking his head. "but she did say she was looking for you."
you felt your heart skip a beat. "looking for me? why?"
before mark could answer, a voice cut through the room. "mark." both of you turned to see amelia standing in the doorway, looking hesitant. "can i talk to you for a minute?"
mark straightened up, glancing at you before nodding at amelia. "sure, come on in."
you felt trapped, the walls of the small lounge closing in on you. "i should go prep for my surgery," you mumbled, quickly walking past amelia without meeting her eyes. as you left the room, you heard mark and amelia start talking, their voices fading as you made your way down the corridor. your mind was a storm of thoughts and memories, each one bringing with it a wave of emotion you weren’t prepared to face.
later that afternoon, you were in the lounge again, trying to focus on a patient’s chart when amelia found you. she entered quietly, her presence like a ghost in the room. you didn’t look up, your attention fixed on the papers in front of you.
"can we talk?" she asked softly, breaking the silence.
you took a deep breath before raising your eyes to meet hers. "what are you doing here, amelia?" you asked, trying to keep your voice neutral.
"i wanted to see you," she said simply.
you felt a flicker of frustration. "you flew three hours just because you wanted to see me?"
"yes," she replied, her voice unwavering.
silence filled the room, heavy and suffocating. you felt her eyes on you, searching, but you couldn’t bring yourself to meet her gaze. she took a step closer, and you saw her pull something from her bag. it was an envelope— the letter you had sent her when she was in rehab.
"i read your letter," she said, holding it out like it was a fragile piece of glass. "i’m sober now. i’ve been through rehab, therapy… i’ve done the work. but you weren’t there."
her words stung, and you finally looked up, meeting her gaze. the sincerity in her eyes was unmistakable. she looked like the same woman you’d fallen in love with all those years ago, and yet there was something different about her now— an openness, a vulnerability that hadn’t been there before.
"you don’t get to use my letter against me, amelia," you said, your voice tinged with anger. "not after everything you said to me."
her eyes filled with tears, and she took another step closer. you instinctively took a step back, the distance between you growing. the hurt in her eyes was palpable, and it mirrored the pain you’d carried for so long.
"i know i hurt you," she said, her voice breaking. "i didn’t mean those things. it was the drugs talking. i was scared and angry and broken. i wish i could take it all back."
you felt a lump in your throat, memories of those final days flooding back. the way she had looked at you with nothing but disdain, the harsh words that had cut deeper than any scalpel ever could. you had known she was spiraling, but you hadn’t known how to help. and then she had pushed you away, saying things that still haunted you.
"i know you didn’t mean them," you said quietly. "but that doesn’t make them hurt any less."
"i’m sorry," she whispered, tears spilling down her cheeks. "i’d do anything to take it all back, to make it right. i’m here now. and i’m sober. i came back to you. please, come back to me too."
loving amelia had always been complicated, a tangle of emotions you could never quite unravel. but standing here now, seeing the vulnerability in her eyes and hearing the sincerity in her apology, you felt something shift inside you. her presence brought back a flood of memories— late nights studying at johns hopkins, quiet moments stolen between surgeries, laughter shared over dinner.
but there was more than just nostalgia. there was pain. deep, lingering pain from the harsh words she'd said during her relapse. words that had cut deeper than any scalpel ever could. words you weren’t sure you could forget.
"amelia," you began, your voice uncertain. "i don’t know if i can do this again."
she looked at you, her eyes filled with emotion. "do you still love me?" she asked softly.
the question hit you like a freight train. did you? it felt like loving her was an inherent part of who you were, woven into your very being. but could you survive loving her again? you opened your mouth to speak, but no words came out. instead, you stood there, silent.
amelia’s face fell, but she didn’t back away. instead, she took a tentative step closer. "because i still love you," she said, her voice trembling. "i’m still so in love with you. i don’t think i’ve ever… stopped being in love with you."
her words were like a balm to the wounds you’d carried for so long, but they also brought a new wave of fear. could you trust her again? could you trust yourself not to fall into the same pattern, the same heartbreak? "what are we supposed to do, amelia?" you asked, voice strained. "ruin each other all over again?"
she shook her head fiercely, determination shining in her eyes. "no. that’s not what i want. i want to love you the way you deserve to be loved. i want to be there for you, support you, make up for all the times i hurt you. and if you’re not ready yet, that’s okay. i’ll wait for you. as long as it takes."
you studied her, really looked at her, and for the first time, you noticed the changes. she seemed different, stronger, more grounded. it was like seeing her for the first time again, and it scared you. what if you had both changed too much? what if the love you’d once shared was gone, replaced by the scars of time and pain?
"i don’t know if we’re the same people we were before," you said quietly, voicing your fear. "we’ve changed, amelia. what if we’re too different now?"
she reached out, her fingers lightly brushing against yours, and the touch sent a spark through you, familiar and new all at once. "then that just means we get to fall in love with each other all over again," she said softly. "we get to learn each other’s hearts from the beginning. we get to build something new. something stronger."
her words resonated with you, and you felt the tension in your chest begin to ease. maybe she was right. maybe love didn’t have to be about holding on to the past. maybe it was about letting go, about choosing to believe in the possibility of something better. something real.
you took a deep breath, letting her words sink in. she was offering you a chance, not a promise that things would be perfect, but a promise that she would try. that she would be there. that she would love you.
"okay," you said finally, your voice barely more than a whisper. "okay, let’s try."
amelia’s eyes lit up with relief, a smile breaking across her face. she stepped closer, and this time, you didn’t move away. Instead, you let her wrap her arms around you, pulling you into a tight embrace. you closed your eyes, resting your head against her shoulder, feeling the warmth of her body against yours. and for the first time in a long while, you felt a sense of peace. a sense of home.

Tonight was no different from the other nights Jungkook would waste away.
At least, it began like a regular Friday night party. It was the usual routine of getting high as he made his way to the party, some beer pong, and downing some shots of hard liquor, before stepping out to take a cigarette break. Soon, the night would be a blur and a pain in the ass of a headache to deal with the following morning.
Except, tonight, the people Jungkook usually ignores were extra irritating. So irritating that one guy came up to him mid-puff and asked; “are you still fucking ___? Heard she dumped you and shit, so she’s up for grabs right? She’s here tonight and I heard that she was a virgin before she met you… My guy, did you fuck her out or is her pussy the type to be just as tight as it was when you first fucked her?”
It’s no surprise what happens next.
A little cussing, a little shoving, and a little punch here and there… Suddenly turned into a full-blown fight with other people intervening and pulling Jungkook’s body off the imbecile.
That brings him here.
Jungkook struggles to fit his keys into his apartment locks and stumbles his way to his bathroom. There, runs a shower and steps in. He cleans himself, scrubbing the smell of his vices away. Blankly, he watches as the blood from his hands drips down and goes down the drain. When he finishes, he turns the water off and dries himself. Yet, his knuckles continue to bleed and for a split second, he sees how deep the cut is. His knuckles are absolutely busted. He wipes his foggy mirror and sighs at the sight of his face.
His lip is also busted. His eyebrow piercing is messed up and his eye will probably bruise up by morning. Honestly, he didn’t lose the fight.. But, it sure came with a cost.
Perhaps his adrenaline begins to wear off because his injuries begin to hurt like a bitch. He rummages through his cabinets and hisses, “fucking shit.”
He had no bandaids.
He barely has any ointments to tend to his wounds.
Jungkook winces at the pain as he runs water over his bloody knuckles. He’s been in fights before and even injured his hand a few months ago, but for some reason, this pain hits differently. It aches, it throbs, it feels like it’ll probably scar.
This stresses him out.
If the physical pain wasn’t bad enough, suddenly a million and one thoughts were flooding in and his heartbeat instantly begins to race. He could feel all his emotions come up and it made him nauseous. His head was spinning and before he knew it; his heart was beginning to ache.
He was truly hurting.
He had been thinking of you nonstop these days. It’s not like he ever got over the break-up—how could he? It’s only been three months since you. You two had been together for almost two years at that. How could he suddenly just be okay after three months of no you? If anything, he was only beginning to process the absence of you.
It’s not like he cared if you were at this party or not. If anything, he was happy to know you were around him. Even if you’d probably ignore him or offer him a generic greeting; he’d take it. It didn’t bother him that you were here… What bothered him was the mere idea of you taking one step closer, one fingertip brushing against his as you two bump into each other in the crowd; one moment. One mere second where you’d look at him a little longer than you should. One mere second where you’d smile at him the same way as you used to and then it’d be over.
He’d fall down to his knees and do it.
He’d beg for you.
He’d make promises, fully knowing he’d probably break them within the week. He’d cry and then he’d loathe himself for the rest of his life.
And loathe himself he does the minute he hears a knock on his door.
Quickly, he puts on his grey sweats and makes his way to answer. Without much thought, he swings the door open and it reveals a barefoot you.
“I figured you wouldn’t have any bandaids,” you hold out a plastic bag filled with First Aid materials. “We threw them out, remember? Because you promised me you wouldn’t get into fights and get hurt.”
“Where are your shoes?”
“M-my shoes? Oh. I had heels on. I think I left them at the pharmacy. I ran here.”
Jungkook sighs and shoves his hands into his pockets. He hangs his head low and mumbles, “I’m sorry.”
“I knew you were a bad boyfriend,” you choke, trying your best to keep it together. “But you didn’t need to break your promise.”
He looks up and is instantly wrapping his arms around you as you bury yourself in his chest. In between light sobs, you curl your fists and hit him. “I hate you.”
“I know.”
“I hate you so much,” you utter with as much annoyance as you can. “I really hate you, Jungkook.”
“I know, baby.”
“Don’t call me baby.”
“I—okay. Whatever you want.”
You take a deep breath and lift your head. You sniff as let him wipe your tears with his thumb. Swiftly, you take hold of his wrist and analyze his hands.
“I’m okay,” Jungkook promises. “It’s not that bad. Might need stitches but I’ll just go tomorrow morning. It’s kinda late.”
You roll your eyes at him. It’s just like him to neglect his health and well-being. “Hospitals are 24/7, Jungkook.”
“Yeah, but you’re here.”
A beat.
“So what?”
“You brought me bandaids.”
It feels weird being in Jungkook’s bathroom again.
All you can think about are all the times you two stood side by side, brushing your teeth. How you’d flush the toilet while he was showering or how he’d barge in while you were taking yours. The slow morning back-hugs and the irritating haste of running late to plans.. It’s all in here. It all happened here as silly as it sounds.
Though it’s only been three months, it’s a bit painful to be sitting on the floor with him and patching him up as if the bandaids were going to fix anything. His cuts ran deep and the bandaids only covered the damage. Yet, you two sit there in silence and pretend like this is a solution. Like sticking bandaids on a wound that clearly needs stitches wasn’t an excuse to just be with him again.
“This isn’t the you I know,” you comment, half-heartedly trying to pick a fight.
“It’s the me I’ve always been. I mean, isn’t this why you broke up with me?”
“No,” you shake your head in disagreement with his vile words.
Jungkook bites the inside of his cheeks. “I’m sorry for bringing so much shit in your life.”
“You didn’t,” you reassure him. “You don’t.”
You don’t say anything further. Could you even? The situation is already as horrible as it can be. Now, it has this awkward yet intimate pull on you. It just burns. If anything, you want to say it. You want to spit it all out and tell him everything.
Tell him that you broke up with him because you would’ve stayed through it all. You would’ve bailed him out of every charge pressed against him. You would’ve forgiven him every time he forgot a important date. You would’ve gotten into the car even if you knew he had been drinking. You would’ve skipped every morning class to sleep in with him. You would’ve loved him more than your own life and that horrified you.
Nonetheless, he was always good to you. You just wish he was good to himself. Though you believe him when he told you he loved you; you couldn’t wait for him to change. As much as you love him as he was—the essence of youth, anticipation, and longing he carried soon turned into a mess of anger and fuck ups.
But how could you ever think that as he sits in front of you, hurting, and still completely in love with you?
Jungkook breaks the silence. “Thank you… For this.”
“Don’t thank me,” you say sternly. Peeling another bandaid and eyeing it to perfectly cover his wound, you encourage him; “just do better.”
“I’m trying,” he says softly.
Your heart sinks.
“I know,” you take out an ointment and squeeze a bit on a q tip. Tilting his face, you reach up and apply the medicine to the cuts on his face. “I believe you.”
It’s the truth.
You do.
Jungkook can’t help himself.
He wraps his hands on your wrist, causing you to pause. There’s a look in his eyes—the kind that makes your heart feel utter heartbreak and relief at the same time. It’s devastating… To love someone and want them so bad that it hurts.
“J-Jungkook… Don’t,” you croak, trying your best to keep it together. “Don’t ruin this.”
“Ruin what?”
You push away. “This. I’m trying to be a friend, Jungkook. Don’t make it any more than it is. We broke up—”
“You dumped me,” he corrects you. “When did I ever say I didn’t want to be with you?”
“Jungkook—”
“Please, ___, I’m sorry. Believe me when I say that, okay?” He begs, bringing your hands to cup his face. “I can’t do this anymore. I hate not being with you.”
Your eyes tear up and your walls come crashing down. You hate the way he sounds right now. His voice sounds so desperate and honest. You’ve never heard it sound like this before.. Even when you dumped him, he was silent. This… This is new.
“I don’t know what to say,” you admit. “Why are you sorry? How did it get this way?” It’s the most painful thing you’ve managed to say to him tonight. Your heart continues to break as his breath hitches.
“I’m no good for heartache, baby.”
Your mind spins.
Your stomach feels like it’s just been hit with a gust of wind so strong that you’ve lost all the words and thoughts you gathered before coming over. It’s like every reason you made up on your way here is just being tossed out the window.
“You’re the only thing that ever made sense to me.”
Then, it hits.
You remember exactly why you stayed for so long. Regardless of how much the break-up needed to be done, the truth remains; you and Jungkook have always understood each other. In any language and in any universe, that’s the most romantic feeling to ever encounter. To have the privilege of loving someone and understanding them runs deeper than any cut.
You two stay silent for a moment, trying to process and convince yourselves to take your words back. Anything. Take anything back.
But your attempt fails.
Self-betrayal takes place as you lean in and close your eyes. Jungkook dips his head low and kisses you. Little drops of water fall down the side of your face because of Jungkook’s wet hair. Honestly, if someone had told you it was your tears; you’d believe them. At this point, did it really matter?
For the first time in three months, Jungkook feels at ease.
His sheets still smell the same. They feel the same too. Soft, clean, and just so him.
At first, Jungkook attempts to take charge. Just like before, he had you lie down to take care of you. Unfortunately for him, because of his condition, he wasn’t able to do much. Instead, he hovered on top and took his time kissing you. His hands wandered around your body, ultimately settling for the spot in between your neck and cheeks.
Your hands traveled down inside his pants.
“Calvin Klein boxers are still by far the hottest look on you,” you claim in between kisses. He smiles into the kiss and mumbles; “yeah, yeah.”
You laugh as he attempts to slip his fingers down your panties. He hisses in pain and groans. “I fucking hate this.”
“Oh? I can go—”
“Shut up.”
“Meanie.”
He rolls his eyes at you. “I’m literally trying to get you off and you’re insisting on leaving. Do you resent me that much?”
Shaking your head, you digress. “I don’t resent you.”
He kisses you in response. As he sinks into it, you put your hands on his waist and catch him off guard. You shift your weight and bring yourself on top of him. Making yourself comfortable, you roll your hips on top of his bulge and lift your arms. He sits up halfway and helps you take off your shirt. Without hesitating, he unclasps your bra and wraps his arms around you. He brings you down and kisses you so deeply. Slipping his tongue in and even biting your bottom lip as he breaks away for air. With as much strength as he can, he feels around your breast.
God, this was the worst fucking time to have busted hands.
“It’s okay,” you tell him as you take his hands off your breasts. “Let me take care of you.”
Jungkook gulps but nods and agrees with you. In all honesty, he was tired. He wants you so bad and this was helping him feel relieved. However, it was just too painful and inconvenient to part-take the same way as he used to. He’s glad you understand and are comfortable enough to take over. He’s glad he feels safe and that his ego wasn’t being jeopardized.
He was no less of a man for letting you love him the way you do. If anything, it made him feel another level of security with you.
You lift yourself a little and take his length out. On top, you continue to grind on his velvet skin. It feels so good even with the fabric of your panties. Jungkook moans, beginning to feel the tingly feeling arise. He hooks his thumb on one side of your panties and pushes the fabric aside. He pushes it just enough for your folds to come in contact with his cock.
Oh, it felt so fucking good.
You gasp a little before giggling. “Feels so good.”
Jungkook sharply inhales. “Baby, I’m gonna cum so fucking fast if you don’t start riding me.”
You laugh, but listen to him. You lift yourself up once again and this time, you sink into his throbbing cock.
The precum from grinding on him makes it a little easier for you, but it still burns a bit. You stay still, trying to process the feeling and Jungkook takes a minute to calm his mind. He would literally bust a nut if you moved.
“Okay,” you huff. “I’m good to go. Do you still need a minute?”
“Fuck you,” Jungkook breathes.
“That’s a yes,” you tease. “I need to move or I’ll start to feel icky. You have ten more seconds.”
Jungkook glares at you. “Generous timing. Thank you, baby.”
“Aren’t I just the best?” you laugh, moving closer to him. You squish his cheeks together and place a kiss on his pouty lips. “Times up. Gonna ride you now.”
He takes a deep breath before placing his hands on your hips. You take that as the signal to begin. Also, you can’t help but love this view.
His bare chest and tattoos are displayed so perfectly for you. His damp hair adds to his needy look. If you were standing, your knees would have buckled. Instead—and God bless—you’re here. On top of him, ready to ride the shit out of him.
Easily, you begin to ride him. Every time you sink into his cock, you shift your body. You feel him inside you get harder and harder and love the way you can feel him hit your walls from various angles. It just feels so good to be with him again.
As you ride him, you two fall into the perfect pace. The high kicks in and suddenly the view of your breast bouncing, you throwing your head back, and the way your wet pussy eats him up—he creams inside you.
Satisfied, Jungkook lets out a breathy moan and watches his cum leak out of your pussy. You continue to ride him, but your hips move slower and you lift yourself up higher. Jungkook lifts his hips at one point and thrusts as you bounce. You gasp, unable to fathom just how fucking euphoric this feels.
“Ohhh my god!”
You hit climax and cum.
After all that, your body practically trembles and falls on top of Jungkook. He holds you, runs his fingers through your hair, and tells you how much of a good job you did. As you catch your breath, your breathing stabilizes but also welcomes the sleepiest relief.
As your eyes flutter close and your body fully collapses on Jungkook, he kisses the top of your head and murmurs; “you’re still the one, baby.”
When the sunlight seeps in, Jungkook slowly wakes up.
Immediately, he feels a sharp pain in his hand. He looks over and sees that you’re holding it. His hand is kept close to your chest and quickly recalls the night.
Though he feels a bit embarrassed that he had been that desperate for you; he’s glad it got him here. Yet, a feeling of sadness lingers because he was no idiot.
Though you wake up next to him in the morning, bare and tangled in his embrace, Jungkook knows that deep down; even here—at the very end of you and him—you are you and he remains him.
The sad truth is that Jungkook understood it. He understood you. Which is why, he’ll never tell you why he got into a fight that night and also why he’ll continue to fight for you until the end.
“Even if it’s the end for us.”

Pulling Them by the Collar | MHA & JJK w/ Fem!Reader
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA IT'S FINALLY DONE
I had to cut some characters just cause I wanted to get this out sooner
And uh... it's been a while. If you were wondering where I've been, let's just say I've gotten sick like 6 different times since I've written on Tumblr and I was kind of tired of doing sick headcanons.
Or you could say I was sick of sick headcanons. Groan
Anyway, enjoy lovelies.
Series; My Hero Academia and Jujutsu Kaisen
Characters; Bakubaby, Todomoki, and Gojoy
-----
Bakugou
"Y/n, don't be rash-"
"I'll be whatever the hell I want."
Your bestie, Yaomomo, chased after the ball of fury that is a scorned Y/n.
"Y/n, I know you're mad, I'm sure he didn't mean it!"
"Momo, don't make excuses for him."
"Y/n-"
A harsh turnaround stopped Momo in her tracks.
"Momo... I need to talk to him. Don't worry I'll be cool and rational."
"... Y/n, we both know that's not going to be the case..."
"Then I'll do it anyway."
"Wait!"
The door to Katsuki's dorm room slammed open.
There he was. Sitting on his comfy little bed.
He was reading a book and when he saw your angry face he quickly put it down and stared, "What the hell happened to you?"
Your eyebrow twitched as you stomped over to him.
Katsuki was still wearing his school uniform, he barely had gotten back from the last class before you got here. His tie was loose and the first few buttons of his button-up were unbuttoned.
The poor boy felt something tug around his neck. With a big pull, he was on his feet.
"Katsuki Bakugou."
"... Yes?"
"Why the hell did you eat my cake?"
"What are you talking about?"
"You were the one in my mini fridge last night. I had a strawberry cake in there. You took it didn't you?"
"That cake had been in there for two weeks. I threw it out."
Betrayal.
"I was saving that for a special occasion!"
He snarled, "Like what?"
"I don't know!"
Bakugou sighed, "I'll buy you another one if you want it that badly."
Your face brightened, "Really?"
"Just don't pull me up by the tie. It's stupid."
"You're stupid."
"You wanna repeat that?" A smirk made its way onto his face.
"You're stu-" He yanked at your tie, pulling you in for a kiss, "That ought to shut you up."
That left her with a blank expression, cheeks flushing a bit.
Bakugou turned and walked past her, "C'mon, let's get your damn cake."
Todoroki
It was a Thursday evening. You were leaned back in your bed, pillows propped up against the wall for comfort. In your hands was a shoujo manga Mina recommended to you.
The current scene was of a girl tugging her boyfriend by the tie for a kiss. And it caught your attention.
A certain two-toned haired boy would be perfect for a stunt like this. You couldn't help the sly smirk making its way onto your lips. Your bookmark was placed neatly in the page before you set it down on the table next to your bed.
With a skip in your step, you made your way down from your dorm room to the common space.
And there he was, he had just gotten back from class a few moments earlier, so his uniform was still on.
"Hey, Shouto?"
Your voice made him perk up a bit, he turned away from his conversation to smile at you. He was about to say something but was cut off by your iron grip on his tie.
He looked confused for a moment, but was caught more off guard by you tugging on his tie and bringing him down to your level.
Your lips ghosted over his in a small smile, it only took another second to give him a smooch worthy of the Gods.
Todoroki's face turned a little pink, but he reciprocated the kiss in no time.
The shocked faces of everyone around them were a nice cherry on top as your faces drifted apart.
"Just wanted to try something." You winked and gave Todoroki another kiss, this time on the cheek. You walked out and back to your dorm not long after.
"U-uh... Todoroki?" Midoriya asked with a concerned look on his face.
He had a dazed expression, once he snapped out of it his fingertips flew to his lips.
"I'll be right back."
He raced after you and soon caught up back in your dorm room.
"Y/n?"
"Hm?"
"Do it again."
Gojo
"Do I have to?"
"Yes. Stop complaining."
Gojo lazily laid on their shared bed, "But I don't wanna... formal events are so boring!"
Y/n turned toward him and scoffed a bit, "You sound like a child, Satoru."
He frowned a bit, "I'm just saying that we don't exactly have to go."
"I thought you enjoyed parties?"
"Not with a bunch of geezers, I'd rather stay here with you."
The h/c haired woman sighed, walking over to him. His tie was loosely around his neck, not properly tied.
"Let me fix your tie."
He pouted, "Honeyyyyyyy... please, let's just skip."
"Let me fix it."
Gojo made a little humpf sound and only sunk further into the pillows of the bed.
"Fine. Be that way."
He brightened a bit, "So we're not going?"
Instead of answering, Y/n simply leaned over his muscular frame, hovering with both hands placed on either side of his shoulders.
She leaned a little further down, Gojo pushed his head towards her to meet in a kiss. But rather than doing that, she grabbed hold of his tie, and with a big feat of strength, Y/n pulled him to his feet.
He was hunched over, Y/n fixing his tie. Once she was done she kissed his cheek.
"I'll grab your coat."
Gojo blankly stared at her retreating figure. He sighed, now knowing that there was no changing his girlfriend's mind.
"Honey?"
"Hm?" She came back in, his suit jacket in her hands.
"If you give me a kiss we'll get going."
She smiled and gave him another kiss on his cheek.
His hands landed on her waist, holding her in place as she tried to get his jacket on him.
"A real kiss."
Y/n smirked, "You'll get one if you can stay for the entire party."
She slipped the jacket onto him, a frown evident on his face.
"You're a tease."
"Only for you."

Regardless of the fact that you and Mor had been friends for well over two centuries, Rhy was only just now granting you access into Velaris after much persuasion from his cousin. The plan being you were to stay with Mor for two weeks while she had some time off from her work so that you could properly catch up after being apart for far too long.
Your first night in the City of Starlight was an eventful one to say the least. During the day, you had let Mor show you around the markets and the Rainbow, stopping to have a late lunch along the Sidra, before she dragged you back to her place to get ready for a night out at Rita's. You had heard a lot about the club over your years of friendship, so you were excited to experience a night there for yourself.
After a few too many glasses of wine over the time it took to get ready, you were well on your way to being very, very drunk before you even stepped inside the crowded establishment. Straight away, Mor was pulling you to the bar before promptly placing a shot glass of some pink-looking drink into your hand, followed by another, and another, leaving you feeling giddy with excitement and the overwhelming desire to dance.
So dance you did.
The hours passed and you briefly remember being introduced to some of Mor's friends, not paying much attention as the music and sway of bodies consumed you. However, the overwhelming heat of the swarm of fae pressed so tightly around you eventually got the better of you. You turned on the spot, looking for you friend to tell her you were going to take a breather, only to find her wrapped around a female and very clearly distracted. With a grin spread across your face, you pushed your way through the masses and headed towards the door.
The fresh air was a welcoming change to the stuffiness you had walked out of. But it was the sight before you that had an expression of awe sketched across your face. Velaris had been pretty in the daylight, but at night? You had never seen anything like it.
"It sure is something, isn't it?" You whipped around to face the deep voice that had spoken from behind you.
"I know you." It wasn't a question. The male in front of you did look familiar.
"Yeah, I'm Cassian. One of Mor's friends. We met earlier?" You nodded with a vague recollection of the tall, muscled figure who had seemed to tower over the rest of the dancing fae.
"Right," But you were distracted by the slanted smirk of his full lips, the slight alcohol-induced haze in his eyes tracked your every movement.
You lent side-by-side against the alleyway wall, talking about whatever mundane thing came to mind before an 'acceptable' enough amount of time had passed, then Cassian had you pressed against said wall. Your legs wrapped tightly around his waist, his mouth attacking your neck with bruising kisses, while you moaned out, not caring who heard, at the feel of him inside you. With a final cry, you became undone in his arms, squeezing around him until he came with a guttural groan. You held onto him for support as he helped steady you back onto your feet, afraid your knees would give out as you panted into the chill night air, the thrum of music and excited chatter reminding you of where you were.
"Well, I should probably...," you motioned behind you towards the door, "Mor is probably looking for me."
"Right. I'll see you later, yeah?"
Cassian waited until you had walked back inside Rita's before deciding to call it a, very pleasant, night and flew back to the House of Wind.
*****
You awoke the next morning with a pounding headache, your stomach churning in a sickly way as the sunlight pooled in through the open curtains.
Mor let out a groan next to you, slamming a pillow over her face before soft snores sounded again. With a groan of your own, you forced yourself out of bed and headed to the bathroom.
You looked like absolute shit.
Your hair was a mess on top of your head, strands having escaped the band you used to pull it out of your face. Dark smudges were smeared around your eyes, a stark contrast to the pale and clammy complexion of your skin. Your eyebrows furrowed even further at the sight of the splattering of hickeys that trailed along the side of your neck and across your chest. Clearly it had been a bigger night than you thought because you had zero recollection of how, or when, they got there. Or, more importantly, who gave them to you.
"You look like you've been attacked by a leech."
You shoved Mor as she stood beside you, observing herself in the mirror with a frown. She looked just as bad, if not worse, than you did.
"You can fuck right off, thank you very much." Your friend just shot you a stunning, if not slightly pained, grin.
"Ugh, come on. Showers then we're going to Rhys' for breakfast," She chucked you a towel before walking out to give you some privacy.
As if in after thought, she threw over her shoulder, "Want me to leave a scarf out for you to cover them up?" You slammed the door in her face, the wooden panel not blocking out her laughter as she asked, "Or would you prefer a jumper? Something with a high neckline?"
*****
Walking past the gate of the High Lord's town house, you knew should definitely be feeling somewhat nervous as the prospect of having a casual, albeit hungover, breakfast with him and his inner circle. But the fact that you were hungover, and that the heavenly smell of bacon was wafting towards you, had all pretences flying out the window.
You and Mor were the first to arrive, or more like, the first to drag yourselves out of bed, so had first dibs of the spread of food before you.
Looking a little green, Mor mumbled something about needing to get some fresh air, leaving you alone to eat your eggs in peace. That peace was short lived, however, as the sound of heavy footfalls coming down the stairs reminded you that there were others in the house, and whose house it was for that matter.
Mor waltzed into the room at the same time as the three Illyrian males, you knew Rhys straight away, having met him a few times throughout the years, but the other two only looked vaguely familiar. You were sure you could pinpoint their names if you thought about it hard enough but, alas, your brain was still not properly functioning.
There was a chorus of muffled "mornings" but other than that, everyone was content to eat, and suffer, in silence.
You eventually got up, taking a pile of dishes into the kitchen, vaguely aware of one of the males following behind you.
He let out a low whistle before saying, "Well, I clearly left an impression."
Your brows furrowed in confusion, turning to face the male as you studied his face.
"Do I know you?" Under normal circumstances, you wouldn't have been so blunt. You would have at least tried to feign some sort of confusion, 'I thought you looked familiar', 'of course, what was your name again?' but with your head still spinning you couldn't bring yourself to care.
"Yes," He let out a laugh that quickly faltered as your evident confusion remained, "We had sex. Last night…"
You blinked as he waved a hand towards your neck, where the marks were still very clearly visible. But before you could say anything, laughter sounded from the other room as a stream of taunts filtered in.
"I thought you said that you were good in bed, Cass. That's just embarrassing, not even a few hours later and poor Y/N has already forgotten all about you."
“Left an impression, my ass.”
Cassian
That's right, you could place him now. Him, and the somewhat blurred memory of frantic and passionate kisses, muscled arms holding you tightly, the sounds of...
Yep, you remembered.
Clearly not deterred in the slightest, Cassian gave you a dazzling smile, running a hand through his tousled hair before saying with a wink, "That's alright, I'll just have to make it more memorable for you next time."
You scrunched your nose at the implication. Sure, he was attractive. Honestly, one of the most attractive males you had ever laid eyes on. But you knew better than to fall for the clearly tried-and-tested smirk that you had no doubt had been used on countless females before you.
"Thanks," You noted the glint in his eyes as he continued fixing you with that intent glaze, "but I'll pass."
You walked towards the collection of snorts and laughter as you left Cassian standing in the kitchen with the stack of dishes, a slightly dumbfounded expression on his face.
*****
A few days into your visit, Mor had left you to your own devices for a few hours, which was how you ended up stretched out on one of the seats in the town house's garden, a book in hand as you basked in the sun. You were slightly aware of the back door opening and closing but paid it no real heed, that is, until the shadow of someone standing in front of you pulled your eyes away from the page.
You looked up expectantly, already anticipating the direction the conversation was heading in; having grown accustomed to Cassian's flirtations and not so subtle attempts of wooing you since that first morning.
"Is this seat taken?"
You looked towards the empty seat he was pointing at, and the one beside it, and the one beside that.
"Yes, it is. No go away, you're blocking the sun." You looked back down at your book, not sparing him a second glance.
"We can't have that now, can we, sweetheart?"
For a moment you thought he had actually listened to you and was heading back inside, that is until you quickly glanced up and found him sprawled across the glass, staring up at you with a smirk.
"What? You said that seat was taken. And at least from down here I'm not blocking the sun. You don't mind if I join you, do you?"
You stared ahead in frustration before letting out a huff as you returned to your book, not missing the grin that had spread over Cassian's face at your reaction.
A few minutes of silenced had passed, you had almost forgotten about Cassian's presence until he let out a soft laugh and said, "I hope you don't mind me saying, but you, right now, the way the sun is shining on you, you look like an absolute vision."
You shifted in your seat trying to ignore the irritation that simmered away.
"What is this? What are you doing?" You snapped back, not giving him a chance to answer, "Is this your way of flirting with me?"
Without missing a beat, Cassian answered, "Yes. Is it working?"
The wink he sent you had your indignantly moving your book up to block him out, and to prevent him from seeing the traitorous blush that spread across your cheeks.
*****
A few night later, you were having dinner with Mor and the rest of the inner circle, having grown quite close to some of them over the week you had been staying.
"You know what I don't get?" Cassian, who sat across from you, asked, "What I don't get, is how someone as beautiful as you could possibly be single. And, the funny thing is, I also happen to be single, but we can easily change that. How about it, Y/N? Fancy a drink?"
"Oh, I would but... I've already got one. Thanks anyway." You gave him a pretty little smile as you raised your glass before turning back to your conversation with Mor and Amren.
"Better luck next time," You heard Azriel say through a laugh as Rhys ruffled Cassian's hair.
*****
The next time you saw Cassian, he had run into the kitchen at an alarming speed, a slight look of panic in his eyes as you cautiously observed him.
“Y/N, I’m being serious, I need your help,” Your eyes crinkled in concern, “Please. Can I please borrow a kiss? I promise I’ll give it back.”
The faux-panicked look was quickly overtaken by a wide cheesy grin as he leant in towards you.
“Cassian,” You yelled, whacking him with a tea towel, “You prick! I thought something serious happened.”
“Something serious did happen, Y/N. The night we met, and you stole my heart… That alleyway will never be the same after what we shared there.”
You threw the tea towel at him as you stomped out of the room, passing a confused looking Mor, who, upon seeing Cassian standing there with a lovesick grin, rolled her eyes and followed after you.
*****
“I don’t get why you don’t just say yes,” Mor said as you heavily sipped from a glass of wine back at her apartment. “He’s one of the good ones, Y/N. Take away all of the cringy pick-up lines and I think he’s serious about wanting to take you out, he really does like you.”
“It’s not that easy…”
“No? What’s not easy about it?”
You starred at her, not wanting to say what was on your mind. She was just as stubborn though, if not even more so than you, so stared right back with a quirked eyebrow as she waited for your explanation.
Huffing in defeat, you flopped back onto the couch and let out a sigh.
“It’s not easy, Mor, because there’s no point. I leave in a few days so why start something up when it’s not going to last.”
“You don’t have to,” Mor sat herself beside you, wrapping an arm around you as you leant your head on her shoulder, “leave that is. You could stay.”
“Right,” You let out a sharp laugh, “Let me just pack up my whole life and move across Prythian for a guy I’ve known all of ten days.”
“Or,” Mor counted, sending her elbow into her ribs, “You could move across Prythian for your dearest friend who has missed you like crazy and knows that you’re miserable back home. The guy could just be a nice bonus on the side.”
You sat up, staring at your friend as you mulled over her words.
“Move here? Is that allowed? Where would I even live?”
“Yes, it is. I already spoke to Rhys about it, he would love for you to stay, said he’s already got some potential work lined up if you’re interested. And, obviously, you can stay with me until you find your own place.”
“Seriously?”
“Seriously.”
Huh. Now that was a thought.
“If I moved, that’s an if, not a yes, it would be for you, not because of…him”.
“I would hope so. Though I’m sure Cassian wouldn’t mind in the slightest.”
The knowing grin and wink she gave you had your cheeks reddening as you lifted a pillow to cover your blush. Mor just pulled you back against her side, knowing that your hesitancy to move was just a front and that you would be packed, moved and settled in Velaris within the week.
*****
It was, technically, your last night in Velaris before you went back home to pack up your belongings. After talking out the logistics with Mor and Rhys, you had excitedly agreed to move and become an official citizen and member of the Night Court.
You had spent the afternoon with Mor looking at potential apartments before making your way to Rita’s for a ‘goodbye’ drink with the rest of the inner circle.
After tossing and turning all of the previous night, you had come to the decision that moving to a new city, a new court, signified the beginning of a new chapter. So why not throw caution to the wind and see how things played out with a certain Illyrian male who was currently standing by himself at the bar while he waited to be served.
“Hey,” You somewhat yelled over the music and laughter of the fae around you.
Cassian did a double-take before dramatically clutching at his chest, “Y/N, it should be illegal to look that good, it’s not fair on the rest of the females here.”
You rolled your eyes, but your usual snarky remark didn’t follow.
“I know our time together is limited,” Cassian continued, the dramatic tone still lacing his voice, “But before you leave us behind, would you at least just grab my hand, just for a moment, so that I can tell everyone I’ve been touched by an angel?”
Shaking your head as he grinned down at you, you relented and grabbed his hand. He was quick to slip his fingers through yours with a satisfied smile.
“I’m not leaving,” You said, very much aware that your fingers were still laced together, “Well, I am. But Mor convinced me to move here, so I’ll be back in a week or so.”
Cassian’s eyebrows shot up, shock settling over his features. Clearly no one had told him of your plans.
“Oh?
“Yep.”
You were interrupted by the bartender as Cassian ordered you both a drink before turning back to you with a quizzical expression.
There was a beat of silence in which your hands were still interlocked, Cassian’s thumb absentmindedly caressing the back of your hand, and you watched one another for a moment, as if seeing each other in a different light.
“Your way of flirting is truly awful, by the way.” You teased with a small smile. With the way Cassian was looking at you, there was no chance of attempting to stop your blush.
“But is it working?
“Maybe…”

EARTH-24 MILES MORALES X FEM! READER
warning: cursing, drugs, angst
‘Yo?’
“Miles?”
“Where are you???”
“Are you serious Miles….?”
You shut your phone off with a huff just after pressing send on your 6th text of the hour. You were waiting at the restaurant Miles agreed to meet you at, only he was an hour and a half late, and his phone was on dnd.
Its not like this was the first time either, Miles was habitually late to important things and you were starting to become fed up with it.
Suddenly you huffed in frustration, getting up from the booth and striding out of the restaurant. Miles promised he’d treat you to dinner to celebrate an internship you received, AND to make up for the last date he was three hours late to.
“Im not sitting in that damn booth for three hours.” You mumbled, beginning the walk back to your house. You thought back to a couple days before when the two of you were planning the event.
“Im gonna do it right this time, Mami. I wont let you down, I promise.” You mocked, rolling your eyes as your pace increased.
You flinched as your phone buzzed.
‘im otw.’
That simple text somehow angered you even more.
‘dont bother. I left.” You replied just before fumbling for the keys to your flat.
You stomp into the empty apartment, throwing down your bag and taking off the new outfit you bought just for the date.
Your grip was rough as you pulled a box from your bedside table. You grated, rolled, and sealed your first blunt so aggressively that you almost dropped it.
Then you took a deep breath. You were laying in bed in your bra and some pajama shorts, hair and makeup done, about to smoke your frustrations away when you should have been celebrating with your boyfriend. It was almost laughable.
So thats what you did, placing the blunt to your lips and lighting it while letting out a deep chuckle.
____
Miles stared down at his phone before letting out a low sigh. He had just gotten back to the garage, he was pulling his suit off while simultaneously texting you that he was on the way. He wasn’t surprised that your response was quick, but he was surprised at what it said.
He knew you were upset, he would be if he was you, but he just couldnt tell you what was going on.
He was too afraid to lose you, but he was starting to think he’d lose you anyway.
He took another deep sigh, saying bye to Aaron and beginning to walk to your apartment. And when he got there, he climbed the fire escape, peering into your bedroom.
The air in the room was foggy, you were smoking, something he knew you only did when you were stressed or anxious.
He lifted the window slowly, stepping in and closing it behind himself.
He watched as your eyes flew open, looking at him for a moment before closing again. You were laying on your back, one hand behind your head and the hand holding the blunt resting on her forehead.
“I missed you, mi corazon.” Miles mumbled, trying to ease the tension. The smell of weed was heavy in the air as you took a slow drag from the blunt, eyes still closed.
“Cool.” You replied, smoke falling out of your mouth as you spoke.
“The date thing was my fault, something came up, you know how that shit is.” He said. He was waiting for the yelling and the angry frustrated tears, but they didnt come, and he couldn’t tell if that was good or not.
“Maybe I should make marijuana my new boyfriend.” You said, taking another hit and letting it trail out your nose.
“Its always there when I need it to be.” Your eyes were still closed, chest rising and falling calmly.
“Mi vida, You know Im sorry-“
“mhm.” You hummed.
“Its not gonna happen again I swear-“
“right.”
“Imma make it up to you I swear.”
He watched as you took a hit from the blunt once again. Eyes opening this time, watching the far wall.
“Miles…” She blew the smoke.
“Get out.”
Miles’ eyes widened a bit.
“Hermosa, I-“
“If I have this conversation with you right now, Im going to break up with you. I suggest you leave my room.” You say calmly.
Miles felt an immediate pain in his chest, his hands beginning to shake. He was silent as he walked back to the window, opening it and pushing his leg through.
“I love you, y/n.” He said, pausing for a moment.
“I know you do.” You reply, tapping the ash off your blunt.

Dial Tone 5 | Matt Rempe
- NHL, New York Rangers - x Reader
❪ FEM! ❫
───── ❝ description + disclaimer ❞ ─────
𖥻 Matthew Rempe x FEM!reader, in which a wrong number friendship is more than you'd hope for. OR he falls first, he falls hard, he's NYC's biggest enforcer.
𖥻 PART ONE HERE. PART TWO HERE. PART THREE HERE. PART FOUR HERE. 5.2k words
───── ❝ ❞ ─────
We hugged briefly, and it felt oddly natural—like we’d done this a hundred times before. When we pulled apart, he gave me a once-over, his grin turning playful.
“You know,” he said, tilting his head, “you’re a lot shorter in person.”
I scoffed, rolling my eyes. “You’re a giant. Everyone’s short compared to you.”
“Fair point,” he said, stepping aside to let me lead the way toward the counter. “But I think you owe me an apology for all the grief you’ve given me about my height.”
“You’ll survive,” I shot back, glancing over my shoulder at him.
We ordered our drinks, and while we waited, the conversation came easily. It was almost disarming how normal it felt, standing there with him, joking about the ridiculous fake names on the order screen (“Rempe with a P? Really?”) and arguing over who would pay (“Matt, it’s coffee, not a Michelin-star dinner”).
Once we had our drinks, we found a quiet table in the corner. I’d picked this coffee shop intentionally—low-key, tucked away from the busier streets—and it seemed to work. No one gave us a second glance, even as Matt adjusted his baseball cap like he was expecting paparazzi to burst through the door at any second.
“So,” I said, leaning back in my chair, “does this count as me giving you the grand tour of San Diego?”
He smirked. “If this is your idea of a tour, I’m disappointed.”
“Okay, Mr. Critic,” I said, raising a brow. “What do you want? Beaches? Tacos? Both?”
“Both sounds good,” he admitted, taking a sip of his drink. “But let’s not rush it. I’m enjoying the coffee and company.”
My cheeks warmed at the way his tone softened on the last word, but I kept my composure. “Well, lucky for you, I have an entire day planned.”
“Oh yeah?” His brows lifted, and I could see the faintest hint of surprise behind his confident facade. “You’ve been planning this?”
“Don’t let it go to your head,” I said, smirking. “I just figured it would be better than watching you pace around the hotel room.”
He laughed, the sound low and genuine. “Touché.”
We spent the next hour talking about everything and nothing. He told me stories about life on the road with his team—carefully avoiding any specifics that might give away his identity to anyone listening—and I shared some of my most ridiculous college anecdotes, which had him laughing so hard at one point he nearly spilled his coffee.
“Okay,” he said finally, setting his cup down. “I’ve got to admit, this is way more fun than I expected.”
“Wow, what a glowing review,” I said, feigning offense. “Is that supposed to be a compliment?”
He grinned. “It is. I just didn’t think hanging out in a coffee shop could feel…easy, you know?”
“Maybe it’s the company,” I suggested, my voice light but my heart hammering.
“Maybe it is,” he said, holding my gaze just a second longer than necessary.
For a moment, the noise of the coffee shop faded into the background. The banter, the jokes, the nerves—it all melted away, leaving only the quiet, unspoken connection we’d built over the months.
He broke the silence first, leaning back in his chair and flashing me a crooked smile. “So, about this grand tour…”
“Yes?”
“Think it includes tacos and a sunset?”
“Definitely,” I said, matching his grin. “But only if you can keep up.”
“Challenge accepted,” he said, standing and holding out his hand to me.
I took it without hesitation, his touch warm and grounding. As we stepped out into the sunny San Diego afternoon, I couldn’t help but feel like this was the start of something I didn’t quite have the words for yet—but whatever it was, I knew I wanted to see it through.
The day flew by in a blur of laughter and stolen moments. We grabbed tacos at a local stand he immediately declared “life-changing,” walked along the beach with our shoes in hand, and watched the sun dip below the horizon, painting the sky in hues of orange and pink.
“You know,” he said as we stood at the water’s edge, his hands shoved into his pockets, “I wasn’t sure how this would go.”
“Why?” I asked, glancing up at him.
“Because meeting someone in real life…it’s different,” he admitted, his voice quieter than usual. “But this? You? It’s better than I imagined.”
His words caught me off guard, and for a moment, I couldn’t think of a clever response. So instead, I just smiled, the kind that reached my eyes.
“Same here,” I said softly.
He smiled back, his expression open and unguarded in a way that made my chest ache.
As the waves lapped at our feet, I realised something: whatever this was—whatever it could become—I was ready to take the chance.
───── ❝ ❞ ─────
By the time we got back to the coffee shop parking lot where we’d left our cars, the city had gone quiet, the hum of the day giving way to the stillness of the evening. Matt leaned against his car, arms crossed, watching me with that same unreadable expression I was starting to recognize as his way of holding back.
“I guess this is it,” he said, his voice light but tinged with something deeper.
“For tonight,” I replied, clutching my keys a little tighter than necessary.
He tilted his head, a small smirk playing on his lips. “You’re not getting rid of me that easily, San Diego.”
“Good,” I said before I could stop myself.
His smirk softened into a smile, the kind that made it hard to look away. “So,” he said, pushing off the car, “what’s next? Another tour? A baseball cap-and-sunglasses situation?”
I laughed, the sound more nervous than I wanted it to be. “We’ll see. Depends on how much trouble you want to cause.”
“I’m not the troublemaker here,” he teased, stepping closer. “You’re the one sneaking around with a professional hockey player.”
“Oh, please,” I shot back, rolling my eyes. “If anyone’s sneaking around, it’s you.”
“Fair,” he admitted, his grin widening. “But for the record, I like sneaking around with you.”
The weight of his words hung between us, heavier than the teasing tone they’d been delivered in. For a moment, we just stood there, the quiet of the night wrapping around us like a cocoon.
“I had fun today,” I said finally, my voice softer than I intended.
“Me too,” he replied, his gaze holding mine. “You’re pretty good at this whole real-life thing.”
“Thanks,” I said, grinning. “You’re not so bad yourself.”
We stood there for a moment longer, neither of us seeming ready to leave. Finally, he broke the silence, his voice lower than before. “Drive safe, okay?”
“You too,” I said, stepping back toward my car.
As I opened the door, he called out, “Hey.”
I turned to look at him, my heart doing that stupid fluttering thing it always seemed to do when he was around.
“This doesn’t count as our only tour, right?” he asked, one hand resting on the roof of his car.
“Not even close,” I said, smiling.
He nodded, looking satisfied. “Good.”
I slid into my car, the warmth of his gaze lingering long after I drove away.
───── ❝ ❞ ─────
That night, lying in bed, I stared at my phone for what felt like forever before typing out a message.
Tuesday, September 10, 2024 Today, 11:51PM ME: Today was fun.
It took him less than a minute to reply.
MATT: It was. MATT: So…next time tacos are on me?
I smiled, shaking my head.
ME: You’ve got yourself a deal.
His response was almost immediate:
MATT: Finally I get my chance to woo you like a true gentleman

I set my phone on the nightstand, a quiet laugh escaping me as I pulled the covers up.
It was still new, still uncertain, but for the first time in a long time, I felt like I was exactly where I was supposed to be.
───── ❝ ❞ ─────
The next day felt like it dragged on forever. My morning classes passed in a blur, and by the time my last lecture ended, I was practically buzzing with nerves. It wasn’t every day that a 6'8" hockey player casually showed up on campus to meet me.
When I stepped out of the lecture hall, Matt was already there, leaning against the bike rack like he belonged on a billboard instead of a college campus. He was wearing a dark hoodie pulled low over his head and a pair of sunglasses, the kind of look that screamed “trying not to be recognized” while also being ridiculously conspicuous.
“You know,” I said as I approached him, “if you’re trying to blend in, you’re doing a terrible job.”
He pushed his sunglasses up onto his head, revealing that lopsided grin of his. “Hey, this is my best incognito look. Don’t knock it.”
I rolled my eyes, trying to ignore the way my stomach flipped at the sight of him. “You look like you’re about to rob a convenience store.”
“Well, I’ve got to protect my reputation,” he said, falling into step beside me as we headed toward the parking lot. “Can’t have anyone finding out I’m sneaking off campus with the coolest girl here.”
I laughed, shaking my head. “Yeah, I’m sure people are lining up to take pictures of me.”
“Maybe they should be,” he shot back, his tone light but sincere enough to make my cheeks warm.
Before I could respond, a familiar voice called out behind me “Y/N! Hey, is that you?”
I turned sharply, spotting my friend Rachel walking across the quad toward us. My stomach flipped, and not in a good way. Rachel wasn’t the kind of person to let something like this slide without a million questions.
Matt glanced at me, his brow raised in silent question.
“That’s my friend,” I muttered, already feeling the heat rise in my cheeks. “We need to go.”
“Why?” he asked, though he was already moving with me as I grabbed his arm.
“Because if she sees us together, I’ll never hear the end of it.”
Without thinking, I laced my fingers through his and tugged him along, my heart racing as we half-walked, half-jogged toward the parking lot.
“Y/N!” Rachel called again, her voice closer now.
“Move faster,” I hissed, glancing over my shoulder to see her gaining on us.
Matt didn’t say a word, but his hand tightened around mine, his long strides easily keeping pace with me. It wasn’t until we reached his rental car that I realized how ridiculous we must look—a frantic girl dragging a guy who could probably pick her up with one hand.
He unlocked the car with a quick press of a button, and I all but shoved him toward the driver’s side. “Get in, get in!”
He chuckled as he opened the door, sliding into the seat. “You’re surprisingly bossy when you’re in panic mode.”
“Just drive!” I said, slipping into the passenger seat and slamming the door behind me.
Rachel reached the edge of the parking lot just as Matt pulled out, her confused expression shrinking in the rearview mirror. I exhaled a long breath, leaning back against the seat.
“That,” Matt said, his tone amused, “was the most exciting escape I’ve ever had on a college campus.”
I turned to him, realizing our hands were still joined. I quickly pulled mine away, my cheeks burning. “Sorry about that.”
“Don’t be,” he said, glancing over at me with a grin. “I kind of liked it. Felt like we were in a spy movie or something.”
I groaned, covering my face with my hands. “She’s going to text me like twenty times asking who you are.”
“Just tell her I’m your overly tall, very photogenic friend.”
I couldn’t help but laugh, the tension in my chest finally easing. Despite the chaos, it was hard to feel anything but light when I was with him.
As we drove toward the movie theater, I stole a glance at him, a small smile tugging at my lips. Maybe this wasn’t how I imagined today going, but holding his hand—even for a moment—felt like the start of something I hadn’t dared to dream about before.
The drive to the movie theater was filled with a mix of banter and quiet moments that felt just as comfortable. He’d picked a smaller theater in a nearby neighborhood, one that wasn’t likely to attract too much attention.
“I thought we’d try to keep it low-key, and Google said this cinema gets an average of 12 customers a day,” he said as we pulled into the parking lot.
“Smart move,” I replied, glancing around at the unassuming building.
Matt climbed out of the SUV, and as I unbuckled my seatbelt, I watched him scramble around the front of the car to the passenger side. He paused dramatically before opening the door for me, and I raised an eyebrow.
“Chivalry’s not dead, huh?”
“Not when I’m involved,” he said with a wink.
Inside, we bought our tickets and a ridiculous amount of snacks, Matt insisting on carrying everything because “it’s the least I can do.”
“You’re single-handedly keeping this theater in business,” I teased as he precariously balanced the popcorn, candy, and drinks.
We found seats near the back of the theater, and as the lights dimmed, I couldn’t help but steal a glance at him. He was focused on the screen, a faint smile on his lips, but as if sensing my gaze, he turned his head and caught me.
He leaned in, his voice barely above a whisper. “You good?”
“Yeah,” I said, smiling. “Just…it’s still weird seeing you in real life.”
He chuckled softly. “I could say the same about you.”
The movie started, and for a while, we both fell into the story, sharing laughter and the occasional whispered comment. It felt easy, natural—like we’d done this a hundred times before.
At one point, his hand brushed mine as he reached for the popcorn. Neither of us moved away immediately, and I could feel the warmth of his skin against mine. My breath caught, but I forced myself to focus back on the screen, my pulse racing for reasons that had nothing to do with the movie.
When the credits rolled, we lingered for a moment, neither of us in a hurry to leave. But eventually, we made our way back to his car under the soft glow of the streetlights, the air between us buzzing with unspoken words.
“So,” he said as we climbed in, “on a scale of one to ten, how bad was that movie?”
I laughed. “Solid six. But the company made up for it.”
“Good save,” he said, his grin widening as he started the car.
The drive back to my apartment was quieter, the kind of silence that felt companionable rather than awkward. When he pulled up to the curb outside my building, I hesitated for a moment before unbuckling my seatbelt.
“Thanks for today,” he said, his tone softer now. “I had fun.”
“Me too,” I replied, feeling the truth of it settle in my chest.
He leaned against the steering wheel, looking at me like he wanted to say something more. Finally, he asked, “See you tomorrow?”
I nodded, my smile growing. “Yeah. Tomorrow.”
As he drove away, I stood on the sidewalk for a moment, the cool night air brushing against my skin. My cheeks ached from smiling, and my heart felt a little lighter.
Whatever this was between us—whatever it might turn into—I couldn’t wait to find out.
───── ❝ ❞ ─────
The next day came faster than I expected. Between classes and trying to focus on a group project, my mind kept drifting back to Matt. I hadn’t told my friends much, only that he was “someone I’d been talking to for a while.” It wasn’t a lie, but it definitely wasn’t the full truth.
When my last class ended, I stepped outside into the warm late-afternoon sun, scanning the parking lot for Matt. I spotted him leaning against the rental car, sunglasses on and arms crossed casually. He looked so effortlessly cool that I almost laughed.
“You trying to be in a movie poster or something?” I called as I approached.
He grinned, pushing the sunglasses up onto his head. “What can I say? I aim to impress.”
“Well, mission accomplished,” I said, rolling my eyes but smiling anyway.
He opened the passenger door for me—again—and I didn’t bother teasing him this time. “You’re really consistent with this chivalry thing,” I said as I climbed in.
“Hey, I have to make up for all the times I couldn’t do it over FaceTime,” he replied, shutting the door behind me before jogging around to the driver’s side.
The drive to the beach was easy, the salty air growing stronger as we got closer. He’d suggested a sunset picnic, complete with food he’d picked up from a local spot he’d “googled extensively.”
“So, how was class?” he asked as we walked down to the sand, a blanket slung over his arm and a bag of food in hand.
“Pretty boring compared to this,” I said, gesturing at the ocean stretching out before us. “You’re setting the bar pretty high, Manhattan.”
“Good. I like a challenge,” he said, spreading the blanket out in a spot with a perfect view of the water.
We sat side by side, unwrapping sandwiches and chips as the sun dipped lower in the sky. The conversation flowed easily, moving from his last game to my classes to random trivia.
“You know,” he said between bites, “I was worried this might be weird.”
“Weird how?” I asked, raising an eyebrow.
“Like…what if we didn’t click in person the way we do over text or FaceTime?” He hesitated, then added, “But it’s not weird. It’s better.”
His words caught me off guard, and I looked down at the sandwich in my hands, suddenly hyperaware of how close we were sitting.
“I feel the same,” I admitted quietly.
For a moment, the only sound was the gentle crash of the waves. Then he turned to me, his expression soft but serious. “So, does this count as a date, or do I need to up my game?”
I laughed, shaking my head. “You tell me. You’re the one who planned it.”
“Well, if it is a date,” he said, leaning back on his hands, “I think it’s going pretty well.”
I didn’t have a clever comeback for that, so I just smiled, letting the moment settle around us. The sky darkened as we lingered on the blanket, the distant sound of seagulls fading into the rhythmic crash of waves. Neither of us seemed in a hurry to leave, the easy flow of conversation filling the space between us.
“I’m impressed,” I said, gesturing to the now-empty food containers. “You didn’t oversell this picnic thing. It was actually really good.”
Matt smirked, brushing some sand off his hands. “High praise coming from someone who almost turned me down for this.”
“Almost,” I emphasized. “But I didn’t.”
“And aren’t you glad you didn’t?”
I rolled my eyes but couldn’t help laughing. “You’re impossible.”
“Impossible to resist, maybe,” he shot back, his grin widening.
Before I could respond, a gust of wind whipped past us, tugging at my hair and sending a shiver down my spine. Without a word, Matt shrugged off his hoodie and held it out to me.
“Here,” he said.
“You don’t have to—”
“Just take it, San Diego,” he interrupted, his tone playful but insistent.
I gave in, slipping the hoodie over my head. It was warm and smelled faintly of his cologne, a mix of woodsy and clean that made my stomach flip. “Thanks,” I mumbled, tugging the sleeves over my hands.
“You’re welcome,” he said, leaning back again, his gaze drifting out toward the ocean.
We sat in comfortable silence for a while, the stars beginning to dot the darkening sky. I glanced over at him, his profile outlined by the soft glow of the moonlight.
“You look like you belong here,” I said without thinking.
He turned to me, one eyebrow raised. “What, on a beach?”
“No,” I said, shaking my head. “I mean…just, here. Like this. Relaxed. Happy.”
His expression softened, and for a moment, he looked at me like I’d said something important, something that mattered.
“I think that’s because of you,” he said quietly.
My heart skipped, the weight of his words settling in a way that felt both exhilarating and terrifying.
“You don’t have to say things like that,” I said, trying to play it off, though my voice wavered slightly.
“But I mean it,” he replied, his tone steady.
The vulnerability in his gaze made it impossible to look away. For a brief, reckless moment, I considered leaning in, closing the small distance between us.
But then he broke the tension with a smirk. “Plus, if I said it’s because of the sandwiches, I’d sound like a jerk.”
I laughed, grateful for the reprieve. “You’re lucky you’re funny, Rempe.”
“I’m lucky for a lot of things,” he said, his voice softer now.
The words hung in the air, and I didn’t know what to say in response. Instead, I leaned back, letting the sound of the waves and the warmth of his hoodie wrap around me like a shield against the uncertainty of whatever this was turning into.
As the night deepened, he finally stood and offered me a hand. “Come on,” he said. “I’ll drive you home before you freeze.”
I took his hand, the touch grounding me in a way I hadn’t expected. “Thanks,” I said, letting him pull me to my feet.
“For what?”
“For tonight,” I said, meeting his gaze. “It was…perfect.”
His smile was small but genuine. “Good. Because I don’t plan on this being the last time.”
And as we walked back to the car, I realised I didn’t want it to be, either.
───── ❝ ❞ ─────
The next morning, I strolled into my lecture hall, clutching a coffee and running a little later than I’d planned. The classroom buzzed with pre-class chatter, students flipping through notes or scrolling on their phones.
Sliding into my usual seat near the middle, I tugged the hood up and slouched in my chair, trying to fight the remnants of sleepiness still clinging to me. Matt’s hoodie—warm, soft, and ridiculously oversized—felt like a comforting cocoon.
“Okay, spill.”
I glanced up to see my friend plop down in the seat next to me, her eyes immediately zeroing in on my outfit.
“What?” I asked, playing innocent as I took a sip of my coffee.
“Don’t ‘what’ me,” she said, leaning closer. “That hoodie is not yours. Whose is it? And why are you wearing it like it’s a security blanket?”
I shrugged, trying to keep my expression neutral. “It’s just a friend’s. No big deal.”
Her eyebrows shot up. “A friend? Since when do you borrow hoodies from friends?”
“It was cold last night, okay?” I said, lowering my voice. “He let me borrow it. End of story.”
Her eyes sparkled with interest. “He? Oh, this just keeps getting better. Is it the same mystery guy you keep texting during literally everything? Because if it is, I need details.”
I groaned, knowing there was no way she’d let this go. “Can we not do this here? Class is about to start.”
“Oh, don’t worry,” she said, smirking. “We’ll circle back.”
As the professor started the lecture, I tried to focus on the material, but my friend’s amused glances made it nearly impossible. I could feel her scheming from two feet away.
Halfway through class, my phone buzzed in my pocket. Subtly, I glanced at the screen under the desk.
Friday, September 13, 2024 Today, 9:15am MATT: Good morning, San Diego. MATT: Hope my hoodie’s getting a better education than I ever did.
I bit back a smile, quickly typing a reply.
ME: It’s sitting through Intro to Philosophy. I think it misses the rink.
His response came almost immediately.
MATT: Pretty sure it’s thrilled to be near you.

Heat rose to my cheeks, and I tucked my phone away before my friend could notice.
After class ended, my friend caught up with me as we walked out of the building. “Okay, so who is he?” she demanded.
I sighed. “He’s…a guy I’ve been talking to for a while. It’s nothing serious.”
She narrowed her eyes. “You’re wearing his hoodie in public. That’s at least medium serious.”
“Fine,” I said, rolling my eyes. “He’s someone I met through mutual friends, and we’ve been hanging out. That’s all.”
“For now,” she said knowingly. “But if he’s making you smile like that, I want to meet him. Soon.”
I didn’t have the heart to tell her that “meeting him” might come with a whole host of complications neither of us was ready for. Instead, I just nodded, tucking my hands into the hoodie pocket and thinking about how things felt a little less complicated when it was just me and Matt.
The rest of the day passed in a blur of lectures and assignments, but my mind kept drifting back to Matt. Every time I reached into the hoodie pocket or caught its faint scent, it was like a little reminder of him, tugging at my thoughts.
By the time I was in my last class of the day—a dull elective I’d taken mostly to fill a credit—I was practically counting the minutes until it ended. That’s when my phone vibrated in my pocket.
Frowning, I glanced down at the screen. It was Matt.
Normally, he’d text, especially if he knew I was in class. My stomach tightened as I slipped out of my seat, mouthing a quick “bathroom” to the professor before ducking into the hallway to answer.
“Hey, everything okay?” I asked, ducking into the hallway.
“Not really,” he said, his voice rushed and tinged with frustration. “I’m on my way to the airport.”
“What?” I stopped in my tracks, clutching the phone tighter. “Why? I thought you were staying through the weekend.”
“I was,” he said, letting out a sharp breath. “But they’re making all the Rangers players fly back to New York ASAP. Something about scheduling changes and needing to finalize practice rink times. It’s a mess.”
My heart sank. “Matt…”
“I’m so sorry,” he cut in, his words tumbling over each other. “I didn’t want to just leave without saying anything. This wasn’t supposed to happen, San Diego. I swear, I thought we had more time.”
“It’s okay,” I said softly, though disappointment clawed at my chest.
“No, it’s not,” he insisted. “I feel like an ass. I dragged you into this, made plans, and now I’m bailing. I hate it.”
I leaned against the wall, wishing I could reach through the phone and shake him out of his guilt. “Hey, it’s not your fault. Stuff happens, right? It’s not like you’re choosing to leave.”
There was a pause, filled with the muffled sounds of an airport terminal. Then he sighed. “I just… I don’t want this to mess things up between us. This weekend was supposed to be about spending time together.”
“Matt,” I said, trying to keep my voice steady, “it’s fine. Really. We’ve been friends this long, even across time zones. What’s a little more distance?”
Another pause, then a low chuckle that was more sigh than laugh. “You always know what to say, don’t you?”
“Just call me your personal pep talker,” I said, trying to lighten the mood. Then, with a wry grin, I added, “Besides, it’s Friday the 13th. What did we expect? Things to go smoothly?”
That got a real laugh out of him, warm and familiar even through the phone. “You’re probably right. Should’ve seen it coming.”
“Definitely,” I replied, my smile lingering even as my chest tightened.
“I’ll make it up to you,” he said, his tone firm now. “As soon as I can, I’ll be back. And next time, we’ll do things right.”
“I’ll hold you to that,” I replied, forcing a cheerfulness I didn’t entirely feel.
“Okay,” he said, softer now. “I’ll text you when I land. And thanks for…you know, not being mad.”
“Safe travels, Manhattan,” I said, my voice quieter.
“You too, San Diego,” he murmured before the call ended.
I stared at my phone for a long moment, the empty hallway feeling just a little colder, before heading back into class. If the past few months had taught me anything, it was how to keep moving forward—even when the person I wanted most was miles away.

Warm You, Melt You
Summary: Jayce insisted that he and Viktor should brave the cold and work at the laboratory at the academy today. However, an unexpected snowstorm had them running home. Viktor was a bit grumpy about slipping over on the slick ground and was absolutely freezing, so Jayce wants to make it up to him and warm him back up, one way or another.
Author’s Notes: This was a long one stewing in the pot. I’ve been building it up piece by piece until this morning. The server has convinced me to post it earlier rather than later tonight, so here’s a little treat for everyone. >:)
Words: ~1,550 | AO3 Link
The door to the apartment flew wide open with the assistance of the strong wind the snowstorm had brought. Two men came tumbling through the open doorway, covered in snow, slamming the door closed upon entry.
They were covered in snow. Jayce and Viktor both had to go out today to the academy to do some work, which was clearly a mistake. They should have just written some notes and ideas down in the comfort of their toasty apartment instead of braving the wild weather outside. But, Jayce had insisted.
Jayce brushed off some of the lingering snow on his shoulders. “I know what you’re gonna say—”
“I told you so.” Viktor responded smugly.
“I know, I know,” Jayce replied with a sigh. “I didn’t think the storm would get that bad, though.”
“Mhmmm.” Viktor was brushing off the cold snow off of his clothes with a frown. The snow on his head was already starting to melt, dampening his brown hair.
Jayce let out a chuckle, patting Viktor on top of his head. “You’re looking like a sad, wet puppy right now.”
Viktor scowled at that, shivering. “This sad, wet puppy just wants to get warm. The cold, it just goes straight through me. That’s why I try to not go out in that weather, I’m not as crazy as you are.”
Jayce’s eyebrows raised at that, not taking Viktor’s bait of attempting to get a rise out of him. He let out a sigh, those emotions clearing as he brain stormed a way to warm each other up.
“Don't worry, I've got an idea.”
And Jayce did. He passed Viktor a towel so he could dry his hair (Jayce offered to assist him but Viktor did it himself), they both stripped down so they weren't in their bulky outside clothes, but in their cozy inside clothes. Jayce lended Viktor a hand to remove his brace on his leg and his torso so he would be more comfortable. Then they got all snuggled up in their shared bed, Jayce being the little spoon, of course.
“You’re like a human hot water bottle.” Commented Viktor from behind Jayce, making the other chuckle.
“I've always ran on the warmer side.”
They were basking in each other's silence for a while. Viktor eventually stopped shivering from the cold, and instead wanted to get into a bit of mischief as payback for Jayce’s insistence of even suggesting stepping foot outside the apartment today. While his core was quite toasty, his hands were still a little cold. Viktor’s chilly hands travelled, finding their way under Jayce’s shirt and planted themselves on his stomach. Ahh, his skin felt nice and warm on his palms.
Jayce involuntarily let out a full body shiver from the difference in temperature.
“Woah, your hands are still that cold?”
“Mhm… you can help me warm them up.”
And with that, Viktor’s fingers started moving. He started tracing patterns into Jayce’s belly. Soft and gentle, enough to make the other jitter with giggles.
“Vihihiktor, it tihihickles!”
Viktor planted his chin on Jayce’s shoulder, giving his neck a little smooch which only made the other only giggle and scrunch up. “How will the full surface of my hands warm up properly if they’re still?”
“Juhuhust leheheave them in thehehe one spohohot!”
It wasn't tickly enough that Jayce was trying to pull away (not that he ever did — and Viktor noticed this), but enough to get him giggling, his nose scrunching up and his eyes crinkling close.
Viktor let out a content hum. “But that wouldn't be fun. Would you deny a man his little bit of joy?” He did slow down his tracing just enough so that Jayce could actually think straight.
Jayce thought for a moment, only giggling more until he responded, “I guehehess I can beahahar it for yohohou…”
And it stayed that way, at least for a while. Viktor mindlessly traced patterns into every inch of skin his cold fingertips could reach — until they felt nice and warm. Jayce appreciated that now they weren't icicles touching his poor bare skin, no longer making him shake and shiver. While Viktor loved hearing Jayce’s sweet giggles, his ears and his mischievous side also wanted to hear him laugh without a care in the world.
Viktor started to squeeze at the little bit of tummy fat that he had discovered last time he tickled Jayce. It was a tiny bit of chub Jayce couldn't get rid of no matter how much he exercised.
And Viktor learnt that spot in particular was very ticklish.
Jayce flinched, then let out a laugh. “Vihihik! I was getting– USED to the trahahacing!” He exclaimed, his voice raising once Viktor squeezed that niiiice spot yet again.
“Need to keep you on your toes, Talis.”
With that statement, another idea to bug Jayce came into Viktor’s mind. While his hands were nice and warm, his feet were still as cold as a block of ice.
Jayce had no time to react to the blankets shifting as Viktor shuffled himself to raise his good leg up, planting an icy cold foot against Jayce’s bare back with an amused chuckle.
The only way to describe the noise that came out of Jayce’s mouth was akin to a prey’s screech from being hunted by a predator.
This made Viktor laugh, but he would be laughing from a different cause in only a few moments.
Jayce spun himself around in the bundle of blankets, grabbing Viktor’s cold ankle in a headlock, scribbling fingers touching down on his sole as revenge.
Viktor screeched just as loud as Jayce did seconds before. Maybe even louder.
“Hey, I think I know how to warm your feet up.”
“JAYAHACE– NOHOT THIHIS!”
“I think some tickling would warm them up plenty. I have you keep you on your toes, too. Don’t you agree?” With that, his dexterous fingers travelled up to his mentioned toes, tormenting the spot underneath their scrunching up that they were trying so hard to protect.
This drove Viktor wild.
“NOHOHO!! B-BACK TOHOHO CUDDLES– BACK TO CUHUHUDDLES!” He attempted many times to tug his foot out of Jayce’s hold with no avail. Viktor was just much too sensitive on his feet.
Jayce let up after a few more moments, giving his poor foot a couple more traces on his arch for good measure, releasing his ankle from his grip. “Seems like someone can’t take what they dish out.”
Viktor rolled over the other way in mock annoyance, letting out a dramatic huff. However, the smile glued to his face betrayed his actions.
Jayce snuck his way over to his partner’s side of the bed, his arms snaking around to spoon him. “Back to cuddles, like you said.”
“Hmph, after you already tortured me.”
“Hey, you did the exact same to me earlier.”
“While yes, I did, you deserved it.”
“What? How come?”
“For making me bear that snowstorm outside. I even slipped over on my ass from how slick the ground was.”
Jayce let out a laugh, and from the contagious sound, Viktor did as well. There was a comfortable silence for a moment, their breath syncing.
Jayce plopped his head down against Viktor’s bare shoulder, his lips ghosting his skin, the other letting out a shiver. Jayce planted a soft kiss on a mole he could see. “I think I can make it up to you.”
Viktor could feel his cheeks starting to burn, but kept up the charade. “Hmph… such bold confidence; you sure about that?”
“Oh, I know I can.”
He put his plan into action. Jayce began tenderly kissing whatever moles he could spot on Viktor’s back and shoulder. This led him up a trail to Viktor’s neck and jaw, kissing a few that were in abundance on the side of his neck. His partner let out a shiver and a huff at the affection. Not only did his cheeks burn a fiery red, but Jayce could see how pink his ears had gotten as well from his service.
Snuggling his face into Viktor’s hair, Jayce spoke up. “So, how’d I do?”
“Mmm, could be better.” He was playing it up, of course. He enjoyed pushing the other’s buttons.
“Don’t lie to me, your ears say it all.” Jayce reached up and gently traced his finger against the edge of Viktor’s ear, getting a giggle and a scrunched up shoulder from the other.
“Alrihihight, alright. You did well, Jayce. But don’t let it go to your head.”
Oh, it already did.
“Want some more?”
Was that even a question? Of course.
“If you would be oh so inclined.” Viktor replied, the grin could be heard in his voice.
“That’s all I needed to hear.”
Jayce continued his kissing journey — whatever skin on Viktor’s face he could reach, down his shoulders and back again, even a bit against his side and stomach. His moles and freckles were his guide on his devoted act of service. And Viktor was loving every moment of it, and he told Jayce as such.
This continued on from the afternoon, evening till night until they were both very, very warm.

Not to Me
Christian Yu/Mito x Y/N - drabble - 861 WC
Masterlist
Warnings: TW! mention of suicidal ideation, depression, fear, fluff, comfort, jealousy, hugs and kisses for the special bb boy, so much love its almost gross
-----------------------------------
Christian watched from across the room as you spoke to Da-bin. You laughed, hard. You playfully shoved him, almost spilling your champagne. Christian sat in the shadows, the party for the Dream Reborn World Tour was in full swing and had been for hours. Christian was exhausted and defeated. His whole heart had gone into getting the tour going. He had rarely seen you over the past two months and you were nothing but understanding. Yet he couldn’t help but feel like the long hours had put a wedge in your relationship and it was all his fault. So there he sat, watching you and his band member talk. He knew in his soul you would never cheat on him, but that didn’t make him any less jealous. Didn’t make him want to somehow fix it all and beg for you to stay. He could feel Mito inside, aching to take over. He fought so hard to be himself while all this was going on, to be normal. But he was losing the fight; he stood up slinking out of the venue. He lit a cigarette as he walked through the city, wandering back towards your shared apartment. At some point during the walk it wasn’t Christian moving, it was Mito. He had no idea how he ended up at the Han River but he did. Even worse, he was looking over the edge of the bridge into the deep blue below. He leaned in, closer to the edge. His foot slipped, a shoe coming off and pulling him back into reality. He stepped away from the edge, stumbling backwards before deciding to run home. Even Mito was scared of the hasty decision he might make. Once home he collapsed in your shared bed, wanting to escape his own mind.
--------------------------------------
“Christian?!” you screamed as you bolted through the front door.
Mito woke up with a start; why did you sound so panicked? He sat up, stretching a bit before the bedroom door flew open and startled him.
“Oh my god…” you sobbed, running to him and engulfing him in a bone crushing hug.
He felt confused but hugged you back instantly, “Baby? What’s wrong?”
You leaned back, your voice sounding angry but also pained, “What’s wrong? What’s wrong? Are you kidding me??” you said searching his face.
He looked genuinely confused.
“I have been calling you since I saw you slip out for a smoke at the party. I thought you might want some space so I didn’t follow you but then… then you didn’t come back.” you said, eyes becoming big and round. “I called you so many times… you never answered. I got nervous and left the party. I walked home just in case. And what do I find at the fucking Han River? Your fucking shoe!” you said, hitting him in the chest as your tears pick back up.
Oh. He understood now. “You… you thought I…” he gulped.
“I thought you jumped!” you yelled at him. You weren’t angry and he knew that, you were worried to death. “The only reason there isn’t a S.W.A.T. team searching for your ass is because I checked your location!” you hit his chest once again.
You took a breath, trying to steady yourself.
“I thought… I thought you were dead.” you cried, holding his face in your hands just to confirm to yourself that he was real and there with you, not at the bottom of a river.
Mito kissed over your cheeks, catching your tears on his lips. He felt himself crying. Not only because of the fear he instilled in you but the fact that your nightmare had crossed his mind as an idea just hours previously. He felt ashamed and the question of why you were with him drowned his mind. “I’m ok…” was all he could think to say - over and over again until your sobs turned into sniffles.
“I love you,” you said, “Don’t ever fucking scare me like that again.” you said in all seriousness. The way your heart dropped when you saw his shoe on the side of the bridge. It felt like your soul was ripped out. You had never rushed home so fast after picking up his distinct shoe (the one you painted red hearts on). You felt some relief when his location was current and said your shared address but that didn’t stop your mind from racing with all the other horrible things that could be happening to him.
“I’m sorry…” he whispered, “I love you too… I don’t understand…” you could barely hear the last part.
“Don’t understand what?” you said, thumbing over his cheeks.
“Why do you love me?” he asked. His eyes looked so pained, so full of fear.
You smiled at him softly, “You are my happiness. My sun, moon, and stars. Everything fades into background noise with you. You’re all I want and all I’ll ever need.” you said, sounding so sure of yourself and the decision to love him.
“It’s rotten work loving me,” he said.
“Not to me.” you assured him, kissing him so passionately it took his breath away.

✧・゚: *✧・゚:*
warnings!:
Mild language (playful insults like "loser") and a intense sports game with some fluff
(not proof read)
✧・゚: *✧・゚:*
The sun dipped low in the sky, casting the baseball field in hues of amber and gold. The energy was electric, the kind that made your chest tight and your palms clammy. You stood just outside the dugout, bouncing on your heels, arms crossed as you squinted at the mound. Seungmin adjusted his cap, his familiar sharp gaze locked on the batter.
The bases were loaded, the score tied, and there were two outs in the bottom of the ninth. A classic baseball cliché, but it didn’t make it any easier to watch.
“Don’t choke, loser,” you muttered, knowing full well he couldn’t hear you. But a small part of you hoped he could.
One of his teammates, sitting next to you on the bench, snorted. “You’re brutal. Isn’t he your boyfriend?”
You smirked, not taking your eyes off Seungmin. “That’s exactly why I can say it. Besides, if he screws this up, he’s walking home.”
That got a laugh from the guys around you, though you didn’t miss the way your fingers tightened nervously around the edge of your jacket.
Out on the mound, Seungmin wound up for the pitch, his form as effortless as ever. You watched as he threw a blistering fastball, the kind you’d seen him perfect over countless late-night practices. The batter swung—and missed. Strike two.
Seungmin stepped off the mound for a moment, his eyes scanning the dugout. You rolled your eyes when he found you, tilting your head as if to say, Get on with it already.
He grinned—just the faintest twitch of his lips—before turning his attention back to the plate. He knew you were freaking out, even if you’d never admit it.
“Show-off,” you muttered, even as your heart flipped.
The next pitch flew out of his hand, a slider that curved wickedly. The batter swung and connected, the crack of the bat sending the ball soaring into the night sky. Your stomach dropped as you watched it arc toward the outfield, where the center fielder sprinted back, his glove raised high.
“Catch it, catch it, catch it,” you whispered under your breath, the words tumbling out like a prayer.
The fielder leaped, his glove snagging the ball just before it could clear the fence. The crowd erupted, cheers drowning out groans from the opposing side. The game was over. Seungmin’s team had won.
The dugout exploded with shouts as his teammates rushed the field, surrounding Seungmin on the mound. You stayed put, leaning against the fence with a small smile tugging at your lips. You’d never admit how proud you were, not right away, anyway.
It didn’t take long for Seungmin to break away from the chaos, jogging toward you with his cap in one hand and a cocky grin plastered across his face. His hair was damp with sweat, his jersey streaked with dirt, and yet he still somehow managed to look annoyingly good.
“Thought you were gonna walk home if you screwed that up,” you teased as he stopped in front of you, his breath still coming fast.
He raised an eyebrow, stepping closer. “Guess I’ll be driving us home, then. You can thank me anytime now.”
“Thank you? For what? Nearly giving me a heart attack?”
“For winning the game,” he replied, leaning down slightly so your faces were inches apart. “Or is that too much to ask from my very supportive girlfriend?”
You rolled your eyes, trying to ignore the way your heart skipped a beat at the proximity. “Don’t get used to it, Kim. I’m only sticking around because I promised your mom I’d make sure you don’t starve.”
“Aw, so you do care,” he said, his grin widening.
“Barely.”
But before you could fire off another jab, he reached out, his hand cupping the side of your face. The playful glint in his eyes softened, replaced by something far more sincere.
“You know,” he said, his voice quieter now, “I was nervous for a second there. But then I looked over at you, and… I don’t know. You kind of make everything feel easier.”
Your heart melted, the teasing retort you’d been ready to throw at him dissolving on your tongue.
“Well, someone has to keep you from falling apart,” you murmured, your voice softening despite yourself.
He smiled, leaning in to press a quick kiss to your forehead. “Good thing I’ve got you, then.”
“Yeah, yeah, don’t get all mushy on me now,” you muttered, though your cheeks betrayed you with a telltale blush.
As the celebration roared on behind you, Seungmin laced his fingers with yours, tugging you gently toward the field. “Come on, you’re part of this, too.”
“Pretty sure I didn’t throw the winning pitch,” you said, letting him pull you along.
“Maybe not, but you’re the reason I did.”
And as the two of you stepped onto the field, surrounded by cheers and laughter, you couldn’t help but think that Seungmin was worth all the mean jokes and every heart-stopping moment in between.

Do You Believe In Fate? // Pt. 1 // Aegon II x Reader
Artwork: @emilykaldwen // Beta: @exitpursuedbyavulcan
Summary: Falling in love with Aegon wasn’t easy. You would think the years gone by would make it less difficult but it turned out that was not the way fate worked. Fate brought you together but would it keep you apart as well?
Warnings: eventual smut, bodily harm, gore, hurt/comfort
A/N: I tried posting it all at once but Tumblr said it was too long so I guess I'm breaking it into parts lol
Part 1 // Part 2 // Part 3 // Part 4 // Part 5 // Part 6
Aegon has always been loud, that’s just who he is. And he was your neighbor. As cliche as it was, you fell in love with him. It wasn’t all at once. It was one year, one step at a time. You always found yourself drawn to him in some way. You swore up and down that there have been glances between you two over the years, lingering touches, soft words. It all happened so quickly that you could never be sure if they were real. Despite everything life threw at you and Aegon, you two would always find each other, even if sometimes you didn’t want to.
Being two years older than you, Aegon acted like he always knew better than everyone else, especially when it came to his younger siblings, Helaena and Aemond. You and Aegon were civil at most. A passing nod here and there; a kind smile every now and then. When you were younger there were rarely any genuine conversations but he was always around. Always around you.
Unlike your relationship with Aegon, you were close to Helaena and Aemond, always have been. Helaena was your best girl. Together you two would giggle over boys and girls and talk about your favorite things. Aemond was your best guy. You would work on homework together and have debates simply for the fun of having a debate.
Within the first few years of meeting Aegon and his siblings, a steady rhythm between the four of you was found. You’d hang out with Helaena and Aemond while Aegon would do his own thing near you three. Most of the time Aegon was on his Gameboy but he was always paying attention. Sometimes you thought that he needed friends, that he should join you and his brother and sister, but his attitude would say something different. Sometimes, the three of you would try to play somewhere away from Aegon but he would always end up in the same room anyway. You considered it a lose-lose situation.
“Aegon, come play with us!” Helaena called out.
“Let me think about it.” Aegon waited a few seconds. “No.”
Aemond picked up the biggest dragon and flew it over your head. “If you’re just going to sit, go sit somewhere else.”
Aegon stuck out his tongue. “Just because you said that, I’m staying, little brother.”
Aemond cringed. He hated being the youngest of the three.
You rolled your eyes and continued to play with your dragons and your blocks. You focused hard on making the most perfect castle for everyone’s dragons to live in. Red, blue, and yellow blocks were stacked on top of each other with a yellow triangle block adorning the top of the castle as the roof.
You were admiring your hard work when a thought occurred to you. “Let’s make flags for our castles!”
Excitedly, you turned towards your friends only to find them already on their feet on their way to grab art supplies. You laughed as you got up to join them but stopped at the doorway. You didn’t like that Aegon wasn’t joining you.
“Would you like to make a flag, Aegon? I can make you your own castle, too.”
“Pft, I’m eight, I can make my own castle,” he proclaimed. He got up from his comfy chair and put his Gameboy down. “But yeah, I’d like to make a flag.”
You gave him a big grin. “Yay!”
Aegon followed you as you led the way to the big dining room table that was now littered with art supplies. Helaena and Aemond made sure to get everything. There were glue sticks, pom poms, crayons, markers, colored pencils, paint, paper, scissors, and little sticks for the flags. Helaena even pulled out her special foam stickers for the occasion.
“Come on, you guys! You’re slow!” Called Helaena.
She was already working on her flag, picking out the stickers she wanted. The outline of a butterfly was on her paper, colored with purples and pinks. You peered over at Aemond and saw the outline of a dragon blowing fire.
You turned to Aegon. “What are you gonna put on your flag?” you asked.
“Oh, I know exactly who’s gonna be on my flag.” A mischievous smile snuck its way onto his face.
Your eyes widened in horror at the implication but you caught yourself before you could say anything stupid. Aegon strolled into the room and plopped himself into an empty chair.
You took in all the art supplies laid out in front of you. A smile spread out across your face as you reached out and grabbed whatever caught your eye. Crayons of various colors were soon in a pile in front of you. Ideas bounced around your head and it was hard to pluck out just one. Thinking hard, you turned your attention to Aegon, curious to see what he was working on. You couldn’t see much but you did see a swarm of purple. Just then an idea popped into your head.
“And done!” Aegon exclaimed as he jumped out of his chair. Even though he was the second last to start on his flag, he was the first to finish. Aegon stood tall and proud as he showed off his flag. “I present to you the flag for the House of Waluigi!”
A once white piece of paper now had a carefully drawn picture of Waluigi from the Super Mario games. He was tall and gangly and had a long, pointy nose that Aegon had extended all the way to the edge of the paper. His purple hat covered his eyes almost completely but a clever glint could still be seen. Waluigi’s limbs were just as long as his nose, if not longer. Aegon drew him almost like a long legged spider creature.
It brought a chuckle out of you, seeing the flag. It was just so…Aegon. He locked eyes with you and smiled when you laughed and you felt yourself blush. It was a simple thing, and you didn’t know why, but it made you happy for some reason.
“Okay, I’m next,” Helaena said. She made a big deal of folding it up as she stood up so no one could see it. Slowly, she unraveled it. “Ta-da!”
Helaena’s flag had a butterfly with blue and green wings on a pink and purple background. It had a giant smile on its face and curly antennas that made a heart at the top of the paper. It was bright and colorful, just like her.
“I guess I’m next,” said Aemond sheepishly. There was no flourish in his showing of his flag but there was still a glint of pride.
Aemond’s flag was black with a large green dragon breathing fire. It was fierce, despite being drawn by a four year old. “Her name is Vhagar and she’s the mightiest dragon!” he let out a giant laugh.
Giggles erupted from all of them. Aemond was sweet and quiet, no one really thought he would choose a dragon for his house.
“I’m last so that means mine will be awesome!” you said between giggles.
You took a breath and flipped your paper over to reveal your flag. It was a three headed dog, with one head looking silly and lopsided and the other two looking fairly serious.
“He may not breathe fire but this dog is really big and can probably fight your dragon, Aemond,” you teased. “And her name is Jeremy Triangle Dot but we call her Dot for short. Mainly because Dot is the boss. She’s the middle head.”
Aemond rolled his eyes. “Vhagar is a dragon. A dragon.”
“I bet if I put Waluigi on Dot we could defeat Vhagar!” Aegon jumped in.
“Hey, not fair!” Aemond pouted.
“It’s okay, Aemond. My butterfly will be super big and protect you with her wings.” Helaena piped up.
“Auntie Alicent!” You called out for your friends’ mother. She was a mother figure for you as well. “Look at our Houses! Who would you pick?”
Alicent came to the table and smiled at all of you.
“They all look amazing! I’m afraid I can’t pick one house. But we can say that I rule over all your houses as a queen,” she joked.
“Queen Auntie Alicent!” you cried.
“Queen Mother!” the siblings yelled in response.
“Okay, Queen Mother I am then,” Alicent laughed and messed up Aegon’s hair. “You children are so creative. Would you like smoothies?”
“A strawberry one!” Aegon yelled out.
“Yes, yes, I know, Aegon. I’ll get you all your favorite smoothies.” She left after pressing a kiss atop all of your heads.
The four of you spent the next two hours making up stories of your Houses and how they all lived together in the same kingdom. The House of Waluigi warred with the Vhagar House while Butterfly House and Dog House stayed neutral through almost everything. The only time those two Houses warred was when the kingdom's flavor of ice cream had to be chosen.
It was the first time you, Helaena, and Aemond had fun with Aegon. For once, Aegon wasn’t on the side playing on his Gameboy or doing his own thing. The four of you grew together; the relationship between the siblings being the best it’s ever been and the relationship you had with them being built on a strong foundation.
Seven years went by and you were all still as thick as thieves. The only difference was that you found yourself hanging out more with Aegon than Helaena and Aemond. It wasn't noticeable to anyone else but it was to you. You found yourself sitting next to Aegon and talking to him more. Whenever you were playing a game with the siblings you were always on the same team as Aegon.
Together, the two of you were inseparable, even at that young age. Through some sort of finagling, your mother and Alicent got you, Aemond, and Aegon all on the same football team. Really, though, the three of you should not be in the same age bracket. To make things a little even, however, you and Aemond, at the age of ten, played with Aegon’s team; them at age thirteen. Nevertheless, it was chaotic fun for the three of you. Helaena, on the other hand, preferred to stay off the pitch and cheer you on from the sidelines.
“Aeg, through! THROUGH!” You called from the other side of the field. If he would just pass the ball, you could sprint through the two defenders in your way and take a shot at the goal without being offside.
Aegon was being a ball hog, playing around with the ball just to show off and keep it away from the opposing team. The opposing team actually being the Targaryen’s cousins’ team.
“Aegon, focus!” you tried to get his attention.
Eventually, Aegon looked up and saw your plan. He gave the ball a strong kick. It flew through the air, over you and the other defenders. You sprinted as fast as you could. Since you were behind the defenders when Aegon kicked the ball, if you got to it before they did you would be safe to continue towards the goal without any penalty.
One of the defenders, a cousin of the Targaryen siblings, Jace, came up next to you, also sprinting his heart out. The two of you locked eyes in a heated battle of dominance. Smirking at him, you dug deep for that extra burst of speed you needed to beat Jace to the ball.
The ball was still making its arc in the air when you finally passed Jace just a tiny bit. When it hit the ground it bounced once. Twice. Three times before you were able to catch it with your foot. Jace was right behind you. Already you dug yourself into the ground, ready for any hit from him that could push you off the ball. You dribbled fast, dodging the defenders that have come up to catch you. Swerving in and out you saw the perfect opportunity to take a shot. Grabbing that burst of energy deep inside you, you gave one final push so it was just you and the other team’s goalie. He dived at you but you were quick to avoid him and kick the ball to the back of the net.
Aegon whooped and threw his hand in the air before tackling you in a hug. Helaena and Alicent were cheering loud on the sidelines and Aemond jumped up and down in his goal box, getting ready for the next kick off.
Jace started the kick off. He passed it to his little brother, Luke, and they went straight for the goal. Pure force. That wouldn’t work, not with your team to stop them. Luke was fast but you were faster. You caught up to him easily and fought for the ball. You were able to kick it out of his control and pass it on to Aegon. Aegon took it and tried to boot it down the field but Jace got the ball back before he could. He was about to reach out and grab Jace’s jersey.
“Aegon!” you warned him. He didn’t need to give the team a free kick, not now.
Aegon looked at you and scowled but quickly replaced it with a playful wink. Then off he went, chasing after Jace.
Jace was a decent distance from the goal box when he let the ball fly. It didn’t actually go through the air, but was a fast and strong kick that stayed on the ground. Luke followed the ball and Aegon followed Luke. As Aemond dived for the ball, Luke attempted to slide tackle the ball out of Aemond’s reach. Instead of hitting the ball, though, Luke hit Aemond’s eye cleats up.
A scream of pain.
Blood.
So much blood was pouring out of Aemond’s face.
Luke just sat there, stunned at what just happened. Jace was quick to run to his younger brother and make sure he was okay but of course he was. He wasn’t the one who got cleats in his eye.
You grabbed Aegon’s hand and ran him over to his brother.
“Aemond, you’re gonna be okay,” he told his brother.
Aemond was holding his face with one hand. The goalie glove he had on was soaked in blood. He couldn’t speak. All he could do was barely shake or nod his head.
Alicent was running onto the field. “Aemond! AEMOND!”
Coach Otto, Alicent’s father, also ran to Aemond. He picked him up effortlessly. “I got you.”
Aemond mumbled something but you couldn’t make it out.
“Keep that hand on your eye, gotta keep the pressure there.” Coach Otto turned to his daughter. “Meet us at the emergency room.”
Alicent nodded silently. She looked at her children, her children and you. “Helaena, Aegon, and my dear, are you alright?”
Helaena nodded her head. She was in shock. You went over to her and gave her a tight hug. She held onto you hard.
Aegon just lowered his head. He didn’t say or indicate anything. All you could tell was that he was angry.
“I’m… I’m fine. I think,” you told Alicent. “I want to go with you to the emergency room. Is that okay?”
Alicent enveloped you in a hug of her own when you let go of Helaena. “Oh, my dear, of course you can.” She let you go. “Come now, all of you.”
With Alicent leading you all, you ran to the car and piled in. Alicent was normally a very safe driver but this time she was aggressive. When you arrived at the emergency it was clean. Almost too clean. You and Aegon stood out in your dirty football uniforms. Holding Helaena’s hand, you followed close behind Alicent.
“My son, my son, Aemond Targaryen was taken here. He was being carried by my father. There was blood pouring from his face,” she was telling the front desk.
“Yes, him,” the lady at the front desk seemed to be in no rush.
“Please, I’d like to see him.”
“You’re going to have to wait a bit -”
Aegon snapped. “Let us see our brother!”
“Aegon!” cried Alicent.
“Aegon, please, everything is going to be okay,” you tried to comfort him.
The lady coughed. “As I said, you’re going to have to wait. He was taken in for emergency surgery.”
Alicent’s face lost all color. “But, he’s alive, yes?”
“He should be fine.” The lady’s eyes softened. “Take a seat, it might be a long wait.”
“Thank you,” Alicent nodded her head.
You grabbed Aegon’s hand and took him aside to some chairs in a corner. Once you got to them, Aegon yanked his hand out of yours.
“Aegon, what’s going on?”
“What’s going on? My brother is in a freaking surgery because I couldn’t keep the ball away from our side. That’s what’s going on.”
“It isn’t your fault he got hurt. He’s a goalie, he knows the risks.”
“That risk shouldn’t be losing an eye!”
“It was Luke. You know it was. He shouldn’t have slide tackled like that. It’s illegal.”
“Yeah, and look where that got him. Luke isn’t the one facing the consequences,” Aegon spat. “Instead, it’s my little brother!”
You tackled Aegon in a hug and held him tight. His breathing, once rapid, slowed down. You felt his arms slowly circle around you, as though he was scared to do so. One deep breath. Aegon lowered his head to your shoulder and you felt his shudder. He was crying.
“It should’ve been me,” he whispered against you.
“Shh, I’m right here for you.”
You held him close and didn’t let him go. You’d never let him go.
By the time Aemond got out of surgery, Aegon was asleep with his head on your shoulder. Aemond had lost his eye. He came out with a white gauze taped over where his eye should’ve been. You shook Aegon awake when Alicent brought him over. Aegon looked at Aemond and instantly guilt filled his face.
“I should’ve done something. I’m sorry,” he told his brother.
“You weren’t the one who slide tackled into my face,” Aemond offered him a weak smile.
“He’s right Aeg,” you bumped him with your shoulder. “Everything is gonna be okay.”
After Aemond lost his eye, Aegon started to change. You don't know whether it was just because he wanted to or if it has something to do with not being able to protect his brother. He was more protective of Aemond but he started losing himself. His temper was a little shorter and he learned to hurt people with words. It was as though his thought process was that if he couldn't protect him then he might as well do nothing.
Throughout middle school and junior high he made friends with kids…different from you and his siblings. They were wilder and louder. It seemed as though Aegon thrived with them. He soon started to taunt you and his brother and sister in front of them but would be quick to apologize when you'd walk home together. Away from everyone else. It was as though Aegon, the real Aegon, wasn’t good enough to be at school. Instead, he created this caricature of himself who’s even more obstinate than he already was. For a while it seemed as though he thrived on the attention but you could see it in his eyes that it was tiring. Yet he kept it up.
His relationship with Helaena and Aemond faltered. They were no longer the close siblings they once were. Aegon’s actions outside of home began to drift in. He would ignore Aemond, order around Helaena, and make snide comments at both of them. Your relationship with him changed, as well. He was less genuine with you, his jokes were even more crass than they used to be, and he’d ask you to get to know some of the other girls so he could know who to flirt with.
But there were still small moments when you thought everything would be okay. You’d share a sweet smile with him over a stupid joke. He’d tease you by taking away your water bottle but then playfully give it back. Every now and then he’d surprise you with a big bear hug but then linger just a little bit. Aegon would look at you sometimes and refuse to look away, even if you caught him. If he saw that you caught him, though, he’d play it off with a cheeky wink. When he thought you weren’t looking you could see how soft his eyes were, how they lit up when he looked at you.
Those moments would never last too long. As soon as someone else would sit next to Aegon he broke out of whatever spell he cast on both of you. It was like nothing ever happened. Like you two never even met. You thought you’d get used to the disappointment and dull pain in your heart but you never did. Your emotions were bottled up and they festered deep inside you, ready to burst open at any moment.
“Why do you do that?” you asked Aegon one day.
The two of you were at his house working on some homework.
He looked at you, confused. “What do you mean?”
“Why do you hang out with them?”
“You mean my friends?”
“Yeah, them.” You leaned back in your chair.
“Because they’re my friends,” he said slowly.
“But they’re nothing like us. Me and your brother and sister are on completely opposite sides.”
“I’m allowed to have more friends, it’s not a competition.”
You looked at him, wondering if he was avoiding something else. “Okay. I just worry about you hanging out with other people, especially them.”
“I’ll take care of myself, don’t worry.” He gave you a reassuring smile then returned to his work.

summary: you’re the new girl in the BAU, Emily takes interest
warnings: sexual tension, a tiny bit suggestive
A/N: my first Emily fic ^_^ hope you all enjoy 🖤
your hands were sweating on either side of your dress pant-covered-legs. the elevator ride felt way longer than normal, and every little thing was throwing you off guard.
you’ve been in this field for years, but never worked with the people who would now be in your life. you know who they were though, everyone did. they were always on the news at some point, explaining the next gruesome murder they have to solve. you were now apart of that.
a ding rang throughout the elevator and it came to a sudden stop, causing your heart to do the same as the doors slid open. the office was just only a few steps away, but you felt stuck to the ground. your body acted quickly and you stepped out before the doors could close on you.
you opened the doors, and your boss, Aaron Hotchner was the first to walk over to you. you stopped in your place and swallowed the knot in your throat. his straight, emotionless expression was enough to make you feel more nervous than you already were.
he held his hand out, “you’re here early, good. you need to meet the rest of the team.” you shook his hand and he quickly put his back by his side, you did the same after him. you followed behind him like a lost puppy until you were standing in front of everyone. they had all stopped talking when they noticed you and Hotch opened his mouth.
“everyone, this is F/N L/N. she’s our newest profiler.” Hotch announced. “she was originally in New York, and she was the best in her field. so i expect you all to treat her the same way you treat each other.” he said flatly, eyes monitoring everyone.
a blonde girl — Jennifer Jareau — stood up and held her hand out. “i’ve seen what you’ve done for New York, and i’ve seen some of your work. it’s seriously a pleasure to be working alongside you now.” she smiled. you couldn’t help but smile back and shake her hand. “thank you. that’s- that’s really sweet of you, miss-“
“you can just call me JJ.” she smiled. you nodded. “thank you, JJ.”
it took almost an hour to properly meet everyone. Morgan was brief, but you were able to figure him out in your short conversation. Penelope Garcia, she had seemed eager to meet you; eyes lighting up like a kid in a candy shop. you weren’t too sure on how Rossi felt about you, but he was nice.
Spencer had talked your ear off, but you enjoyed it. much more than the others had seemed to. you liked that his head was practically an encyclopedia on everything, you could learn a lot from him just from spending an hour with him.
“and it’s… Doctor Spencer Reid, correct?” you asked, and Spencer nodded proudly. “yeah! i actually have two PhD’s and-“ the office door flew open,
“i’m so sorry i’m late. Sergio had made an absolute mess in the apartment and he just held me up completely- oh!”
you locked eyes with the beautiful brown eyed girl in front of you, and this time, you swore your heart actually stopped beating for a moment. Emily Prentiss.
in a totally-not-weird way, you’ve always been fascinated with profiler Emily Prentiss. you’ve seen her when the BAU would televise their profiles for everyone to be aware of the freak in their city.
“who’s this?” Emily smiled, setting down the case she was holding. “Special Agent F/N L/N. she used to be a profiler back in New York. but she got transferred here. she was the best in her field.” Spencer spoke before you could introduce yourself. her eyebrows raised as she held her hand out.
“well, nice to meet you then. i’m Em-“
“Emily Prentiss.” you breathed out. Spencer turned to you with furrowed eyebrows, and Emily looked taken aback at the fact that you knew who she was. “i’m sorry.” you said quickly. “i just- i’m very familiar with all of you, but i’ve always been fascinated with your work, Emily. and i can’t tell you how much of an honor it is to be working with you now.”
she smiled again. “i didn’t realize i had anyone who looked up to me. especially someone who…” Emily took her time to look you up and down. she smirked. “top in your field, yeah?” you swallowed, “y-yeah.”
Emily bit her lip as she held back her smile from growing wider. “cute.” she mumbled. before you could say anything, Hotch came bursting out of his office. “we have a case.”
Emily hummed, “time to see what made you top in your field, hm?”
“wheels up in 30. do what you need to do before we leave.” Hotch stated, taking what he needed before leaving the room. everyone else had left, while you continued to look through the pictures provided. it was truly gruesome, but after nearly 15 years of this, you were numb to almost everything that came your way.
it was a murder — obviously. but the patterns that were left were nothing you’ve seen before. each victim was sliced and stabbed in a specific way. three times in the stomach, one on each wrist, and a slice going across their necks.
“still here?” a voice asked, breaking you out of your trance. Emily stood in the door way, leaning against the frame with her arms crossed. a nervous laugh left your lips. “yeah, i’m just… studying these pictures and their profiles.” you told her. “well, we’ll discuss it more on the plane. don’t study too hard.” she winked. your face burned and you looked down to hide it.
Emily walked over and sat down next to you. “you know i already have you figured out, right?” she asked, inching closer to you. your breath hitched. “you live alone, maybe with a pet. but that’s all. you keep to yourself. but, you’re confident in yourself. you know when you’re right and you stick to your opinions, and you don’t let anyone tear you down, wether they’re above you or not. you have a lot of pride and know how to keep yourself together, except for when i’m around.”
you froze under her gaze. you could feel your cheeks start to burn. “you’re… infatuated with me. clearly, you’ve known me for longer than i’ve known you, and i can see that you’ve always felt this way about me. you’re stiff in your seat, the same way you were when i walked through those doors. i’m driving you crazy just by sitting in front of you and making direct eye contact. but… you take your job seriously, and you’re afraid this will ruin what you just got.” Emily leaned in closer, looking down at your lips. “but you also would take any risk just to get a taste, wouldn’t you?”
you were genuinely speechless, not knowing how to physically react or what to say back. Emily had read you front to back with no hesitation, she didn’t second guess herself with anything she said. she had figured you out completely.
Emily smiled and briefly put her hand on your thigh. “time to go, sweetheart.” she winked, standing up and walking out of the room, leaving you flustered and shaking on the inside.
